As Seattle as rain, this bar is an institution in this city. Solid pub grub & a huge patio. Sunday bloody Mary bar & man-mosas in a pint.
DO NOT do business here and do not use
your credit card here! I work for a large company in the area and we came to the Red Door for an event back in April. It was a casual event so no contract was required. At the end of the night, I handed them my credit card to pay for our group of 30+. Two months later a large charge appeared on my card for the same amount previously charged months before. I immediately contacted the Red Door and they told me it was error with their machine and error would be reversed. Weeks later, the charge was not reversed. I was then reassured by Pete Hanning the manager that the Red Door has taken this situation seriously and that it would be resolved. Pete then proceeded to tell me that he could not credit me back to my credit card and could only send me a check. I have emailed, called, even sent two Fed Ex labels for the Red Door to send us a refund check and have not received a response. It has been over 8 weeks. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried to resolve this between the two of us. I find it completely shaddy that they held my credit card number for months, claim they can charge my credit card but can't refund me. (See other reviews below. It seems that they have ripped off a slew of people. The Red Door needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau for their conduct) I highly recommend that people stay away from this establishment. I will never do a corporate event here again or recommend this place to anyone.
I will be taking my business to Brouwer's Cafe. Their food, drinks, and atmosphere is better all around and at least I know Brouwer's Cafe believes in customer service and operating with integrity.
Realistically, 2.5 stars. Not because
they did anything wrong, but because nothing stood out and in Seattle's various neighborhoods there are SO many outstanding food choices that we tend to grade a bit harshly sometimes. Can't blame us consumers though, your fellow Seattle restauranteurs simply set the bar very high.
The tables were sticky and floors were grimy. Like when too much beer gets spilled over everything. Service was just fine, and lunch was fine as well. Nothing phenomenal, but the food was good and it filled our bellies until the next meal.
Just ok. Service is not great. It took so long to get our drinks and food. They they all came at once. The server was not very social or attentive. I just moved to Fremont and so far not too impressed with the service here.
VERY DIRTY PLACE!!!.
I rate this with ZERO STARS!
We went here on a Sunday. One of my friends recommended the place because the crab melt was really good. Two of my friends tried to order the crab melt, but apparently, they did not have any crab that day. No crab in Seattle? What was that about??? Besides that, the waitress seemed very impatient, and we felt rushed ordering our food.
I ordered a coke and the tuna salad sandwich. The sandwich tasted fine, but I've had better. After our meal, my coke was close to being finished, when I noticed something in the bottom of the glass. I picked for it with my straw, but to find the most disgusting green, slimy thing. We could not identify what it was. We took a closer look and it had little hairs in it!!! GROSS!!! I'm 13 weeks pregnant, and looking at it made me puke! I had to rush to the bathroom and vomit my whole meal! IT WAS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING!!!
The waitress came and cleared out our dishes and said she was going to find out where it came from. She finally came back and tried to tell us that she didn't know what it was or where it came from. She did say that she looked at the ice machine and didn't see anything. She said it may have been from the dishwasher! How gross is that??? Whether it's from the ice machine or dishwasher, the place is disgusting and dirty. She didn't charge me for my meal, but if it came from the ice machine or dishwasher, no customer should be paying for dirty food. She apologized, but no sincere apology. The manager did not even come to apologize. We obviously did not tip her. We walked by our waitress before we left, and she did not even acknowledge us at all.
Not only does Red Door have awful service, they have the most DISGUSTING AND DIRTIEST FOOD I have ever eaten in. I'm NEVER EVER going back there again and would NEVER RECOMMEND it to anyone!!!
Great Local Bar. Come here on summer afternoons to get a spot on the patio where you can enjoy a tasty beer from the ever-changing tap list. Great inexpensive bar food with a neighborhood atmosphere.
General Manager should be fired! - wait staff evaluated, our not so great.
We went there before a show. We were all excited to have some Mac n Jack's and sliders (a burger appetizer). The waitress, which took FOREVER to come to our table, informed us they were out of both. My girlfriend jokingly said "why didn't you hang a sign out front," and I jokingly said, "Why is your front door open, without Mac you guys should just shut down shop." Our waitress said on Sundays they always run out of popular stuff. I work in the restaurant industry and if my restaurant went out of something on any day we would be mortified because of the bad planning and management.
So anyways, we ordered their beer of the month. I gave the order and said, "but we need the beer (a pitcher) right away. Our waitress said ok, but very irritated.
Our beer came 10 min later. She plunked down 3 pint glasses, stacked on themselves, with the pitcher, rolled her eyes, and said "Here you go." We separated our glasses and poured our beer.
When the food came, she brought us our fries and chicken wings, with no individual plates. No napkins. To her credit she said she forgot napkins. 10 minutes later, after her taking orders and delivering food, my girlfriend asked if we could get napkins. 5 min later we got them.
After we ate, our napkins were on the plates of carnage, while she walked around to other tables. She walked to our table and walked away. My brother jokingly said to us, "Uh,NO, We're ok, everything is good here." We all laughed.
Another 5 min of our napkins on our plate, pitcher empty, she came by and asked if we were done. We said yes and asked for our bill.
2 min later we got our bill. We paid it and left. Through a window as we were leaving we saw that she re-entered the patio and the first thing she went to was her $2 tip. My brother and girlfriend encouraged me to stiff her, but I didn't. Without attitiude I would have tipped her like $7-8 dollars. But she sucked!!!
Simply put: Walked in, walked back out. If you're looking for frat kids and want advice for what to buy at American Eagle, look no further.
Best Steak Salad and value!. I often frequent the Red Door at night, but have just recently ventured there for lunch. We both order the steak salad. It is only $8.95. Now most steak salads run around $15-$16. And this is the best we've both had. It has gorgonzola, fried tortilla strips, yummy rib-eye steak, tomatoes, red onions, and more. This is such a great value and it's enough for me to have 2 meals! We've already gone back to get the salad and I'm sure we'll be going many more times.
The WORST service ever!. We stopped in for lunch after walking the Fremont Sunday street market. The outside seating was nice and the food was passable. However, the service was the worst I have EVER experienced. Our waitress stood and talked to a table of people, obviously her friends, across from ours almost the whole time we were there. She brought food that was cold with no plates or silverware. I had to walk over to the bar and ask a bartender to get them for us. We were eating our food off of napkins while our waitress was too busy talking to her friends to notice. I could go on since there is more I could complain about that, but I won't. It was obvious to us that our waitress could have cared less. It was beyond bad service. We won't be back. I gave our rude server's tip to the gal next door at the smoothie place. The service there was great! My suggestion, skip lunch and have a smoothie next door. It will be a much nicer experience.
Truely Gross. Went to Red Door for a work related function. Our group rented a private room. Service was poor but with such a big party we were tolerant. I ordered food but decided not to eat it because of the crush of people and lack of space. I boxed it myself and took it home. Once home I realized that in my salad there were pieces of greasy foul smelling fried fish that did not at all belong. Disgusting! The kitchen staff totally scraped someone else's plate and served it to me. I called and was left on hold for twenty minutes. I just wanted to return the food and get my money back but no one was willing to talk to me. I'll never go back. I am also sorry that our company spent so much reserving a room. What a total waste.
