Worst Service Ever!. Our waitress was a total burn out and finally succeded in pissing us off enuegh to just leave. She may have been the only bad server but she stole the show!
Murphy's Pub. Murphy's Pub is a great neighborhood bar. Our waitress was very attentive to our 10 people table. The food was great and it actually came at a decent time. The restaurant was clean. They also got a great patio if you want to catch some sun. Overall, it was a good feeling experience. I would defi. recommend Murphy's to my friends.
very friendly staff and funny. I was there 2 weeks ago with friends from out of town. We had a blast! The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The place was very easy to find. Murphys was busy that night so it took a little long to get our food, I guess that's to be expected when they are busy. We had a lot of fun there. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Rude service, downhill all the way, - what did happen to this formerly great place?. I used to go to Murphy's often in the "old days", and had a great time. We went there the other night before a movie, and couldn't believe the rude behavior of both the waitress and bartender. The place was practically empty, and now I know why. Sadly, nothing to recommend any more.
One of the best neighborhood pub in the Wallingford area.. Murphy's Irish Pub is one of the best pub in the Wallingford area. We had a birthday party there and it was a blast. I had their fish and chips and it was fantastic. They also have many many different beers on tap. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was quite nice.
Fine for what it is. You don't come to Murphy's for an amazing night out; you come because you live in the neighborhood and want a solid place to while away the hours. Pros: There's a fireplace, and there's Guiness on tap (natch), and the wine list is pretty solid and affordable (unheard of in pubs) and the food looks delicious, though I've never tried it. And there are darts! But there's something about it that never sits right with me; maybe it's because I actually lived in the UK and have been to real pubs, but it seems more like an American bar than a pub.
Rude rude rude!.
Ok, so I have enjoyed this pub in the past, but tonight had an experience that will make it very hard for me to return.
After the Bite of Wallingford, a girlfriend and I stopped in for a beer. One of the barkeeps (a large blond), after ignoring us for quite some time was very rude. After finally deciding to wait on us, she wanted to see our IDs. Unfortunately, I had a purse-swapping exchange mishap and told her that I was sorry I didn't have mine. Her sharp, unneccessarily rude response was, "Well you can't be in here then!" and stormed off. Now we are both nearing our 30s, and I understand if we can't be served, but I would've returned with my ID had she just said she needed it. Instead, we decided we didn't need a beer there anyway.
So, if you can put up with rude bartenders who will ignore you even on slow nights, this bar will work for you. We won't be returning....
Great Service, atmosphere and selection. Murphys has a very Irish feel with tons of stuff on the wall to entertain you. The staff is with one exception awesome. The food is delicious pub grub. The prices are steep but manageable. I say go! And the open mic on Wednesdays is always suprisingly great.
Not Cool As they Think. This place is full of pretentious slobs like most of the bars in the neighborhood. Its crowded (which can be fun on a weekend) but has an awful vibe.
What happened to this place?. I used to expect a good deal at this place. But now I find that for $9.25 I got two NW Micros in cheater pints. Then $11 for fish and chips. The fish pieces were so big that sometimes you didn't even get a taste of the batter. The cayenne pepper in the tartar sauce was way too much. Why not spice up the batter instead of the cooling tartar. Expensive with poor service.
