Editorial Review for Kort Haus – by Paul Fontana

The Scene
The nondescript brick building on Phinney Ridge belies the plethora of tavernly delights within. The weathered space has a little of everything: two pool tables, several TVs, 26 draft beers, Jagermeister on tap, an Internet jukebox and specials galore. More notable, however, is the list of exotic meat burgers: antelope, kangaroo, ostrich, reindeer, alligator, camel, caribou and more. Surprisingly, the menu also accommodates vegetarians better than nearly any bar in town. The patrons hail mainly from the immediate neighborhood and range widely in age.

The Draw
Funny meats that may or may not taste like chicken aside, Kort Haus is an unassuming treasure. The main ingredient may be the service, which is friendly and professional. If a low-key evening is what you're after, this is a perfect place to watch a ballgame or catch up with friends.

Great neighborhood dive, that also offers very good food. A cool place to meet up with friends for pool and beer, and not fight the massive crowds of some other places.

Pros: Cool owner. Great burgers. Not crowded. Easy parking.

Cons: Waitress couldn't be bothered.

Love this place. The people are great - you'll become a regular. Come as you are, but remember you're not in Belltown anymore... Free pool on Sundays, frickin' great burgers, and the bartenders are good - expect smiles from Gabrielle and scowls from Ed... but that's why we love this place! Can't wait till summer on the back deck!
