Great selection - can't beat prices

by AudreyR at Citysearch

These guys have been around forever and have a great selection of used and preowned mowers at great prices. When they do a tune and sharpening they do it right. Yup, that costs about $60 - 90 depending on where you go. These guys are right in the middle so make sure your mower is worth it first. It'll take a while to get it back because they're a seasonal business and get busy in the spring. You can get a refurbished one for about $150. We did that 2 seasons ago and it's still running great and starts every time.

They have always had what I needed. Just called to have them set aside a string trimmer for me for pick up. They have them in stock but said they needed to assemble some, so I should give them until tomorrow just in case and he'll have it waiting for me. Saved me a trip up there. I've always found their service to be right on par with expectations.

  • Pros: local, keeping mowers out of dump, service is done right
  • Cons: takes a long time, bit gruff

3+weeks waiting and didn't fix the problem

by Reycer at Citysearch

Purchased my Tanaka from them. I developed a leak in the fuel tank and asked them to fix it. 3+ weeks later went to pick it up... I was charged $85 dollars for a carburetor overhaul. I told them there was nothing wrong with the carburetor as it was working prior to bringing it in. They basically argued my carburetor was the cause of the problem. Yeah right!

They went to get my Tanaka and the tank was leaking. So what did they do... They took a melting iron and in 5 minutes tried to melt the leak shut. Took my Tanaka home pissed... 5 days later my tank is leaking...

The owner didn't own up to any of this and didn't care to make it right by me. Even the employee's agreed they didn't do what I asked them to do. Everyone was cool except the owner... What a chump.

  • Pros: They have done good work but you have to make sure they do
  • Cons: No Integrity, Can't admit mistakes

Terrible experience!!!

by ednoble at Citysearch

This place will never get my business again. I took in my power mower (which was in pretty decent shape, really) to have basic maintenance and sharpening done. Three weeks later, they call and leave me a message that it is finally done, and the cost would be $80!!! The thing is probably not even worth that much altogether, even after they cleaned, sharpened, etc. I called several times to discuss this outrageous price with them, but never got an actual person- just a lame voice message that included no useful information- something like, I don't know...HOURS OF OPERATION, CONSIDERING THIS INFO APPEARS NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!

So, this Sunday I call again, get the same message, and decide to head up there to discuss in person. Though I wasn't sure about hours fo operation, I figured that ANY PLACE THAT DEALS WITH LAWN CARE WOULD SURELY BE OPEN ON A SUNDAY!! Of course, they were closed, and now I have no mower still and probably never will because I WILL NEVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE ONE SINGLE DIME!! They can keep the thing and realize the impact of price gouging when they find that they can't sell it for even the $80 that they tried to charge me. Aurora Lawn Mower is a criminal operation.

  • Pros: They do lawn mower stuff
  • Cons: Criminally expensive, don't answer phone, no info on hours of operation anwhere
