In Short – Upscale and sophisticated, this chain features art deco-inspired trappings such as dark wood, shiny brass and beveled glass. Servers clad in black and white weave through cocktailing couples and businessmen at the bar. The classic American, seasonally inspired seafood menu changes daily; specialties include starters of Dungeness crab cakes and oysters on the half shell, plus entrees like cedar plank-roasted salmon, sauteed lobster with scallops and rock shrimp, and seared yellowfin tuna with wasabi, soy and ginger.

I eat there several times a month and food is good most of the time but rarely a perfect 5..

undercooked fish

by literal101 at Citysearch

My catfish was completely raw and they did the classy move of asking if I wanted a new one or just wanted them to recook the old one. If you want tasteless, rubbery fish, I recommend going with the latter.

What made the visit especially charming was that our server declined to let my party of four move to a vacant window seat in the bar with seating for five, but five minutes later a party of three was sitting there dining away.

<<I am editing this review to follow up that they said they never received the letter I mailed about my experience. They responded to a comment form I filled out on the corporate web site. They resolved the matter by following up with phone, email, sending me a gift certificate, and promising they would speak with staff about better training.>>

  • Pros: resolved by management
  • Cons: bad service, bad food

Best Seafood in Town

by caitlyn at Citysearch

Hands down the best seafood in town, even if it is an expanding chain. The list is large, diverse and fresh. It's hard to pick a favorite dish but I love the petrale sole. The service is always great and if you can, try to save room for the key lime pie! The Fish House and Oyster Bar is by far my favorite McCormick's location for it's ambience, wood booths and decor.

  • Pros: Fresh, Diverse
  • Cons: Bad Parking

Fresh!

Arrived in Seattle late one evening for a business trip. Walked down the street from my hotel and recognized McCormick's from another city. Great $1.95 menu after 10pm. Outstanding chowder and the burger is the best. My waiter Frank suggested coming back the next night before 8:30 for the oyster special. Arrived the following evening and enjoyed (18) 50 cent oysters and the Mariners game on the TV. Bartender is a good guy too.
