I'm Polish and I shop here often for Polish Sausage for grill, which is pre-cooked and tastes fabulous, I love Polendwica which is Canadian Bacon and there is nothing like a freshly made one smoked in-house. Krakoska Kielbasa is fabulous in a sandwich, ready to eat. I could buy a smoker and attempt this myself but I'll leave it to the professionals at Gearge's Deli. Other items I get here are pickles, rye bread, sweets and wine. Pickles are delicate slightly sweet, and if you like pickled forest mushrooms they have at least 5 varieties. The sweets are Polish and German and never old, its all fabulous chocolate with various fruit and nut filings, as well as Krowki or little cows, its basically chewy caramels. I am not a fan of Polish mead but you can get it here, as well as other wines: Ciciosan (sweet vermouth not found in liquor stores but popular in Poland), Babuni Nalewka (which means Grandma's home made liquor) it is basically a very sweet cherry wine but also comes in Peach or Honey flavor. The ladies are helpful, knowledgeable and will help you decide or explain the various items. Some other items: Polish periodicals (political, fashion, and home making), noodles, soups, jams, juices, beer, pudding, face creams, teas, herbs, and spices. I always buy more than I plan on and its hard to leave with just one bag. When I get to the car it instantly files with the smell of the delicious smoked meat, and I have to a have a slice right away. You can buy the ham whole or sliced. They also make sandwiches.
Editorial Review. This First Hill deli is a lunchtime hospital crowd hit, known for its smoked meat sandwiches and shelves of imported German goods.
