There's always a long line at this downtown takeout spot for savory Indian and Pakistani curries.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Since this is a downtown lunch spot, the line is particularly long during peak lunch hours--though it usually goes fairly quickly.
Where to Sit:
Take it to go and snag a table outside on nice days.
Save Money:
The changing daily lunch special is a particular bargain.

Very Good Food

by aledid at Citysearch

Cafe Zum Zum serves Indian and Pakistani dishes. They are all wonderful and do come with a tortilla. If you WANT naan you can pay a dollar fifty and get a wonderful piece with garlic butter and herbs. "A meal in its self". They always have bumpin music and nice friendly service. (You can also bring in your own containers)

The owner is a really nice gut.

  • Pros: Very Very Good
  • Cons: None - Maybe leaving to full still wanting more :)

This is not Indian food

They serve tortillas instead of naan and most of the dishes leave you burping for hours afterward. Need I say more?

My personal favorite

by spicy0ne at Citysearch

I moved to California seven years ago. This is still my favorite lunch whenever I get the chance to re-visit Seattle. Never would have imagined myself liking middle eastern food. Cafe Zumzum was a great introduction. I've even taken my kids...and they, of course, loved it too. Whether you commute downtown everyday or visit once in a lifetime, I would recommend stopping by for a tasty and memorable meal. Seating can get crowded, but take-out is available.

  • Pros: every menu item, service, price
  • Cons: closed on weekends, close early weekdays
