view & uploadPlace is decent, no need to trash it or overhype. Mae Phim makes a great little place for a decent and inexpensive, not to mention FAST, lunch. I work in downtown and have been there numerous times, and to be honest, the place does not live up the 9.6 rating it has here. The food is good for the price and the speed at which it is delivered to you, but there are other better finds in downtown Seattle. So for those who haven't been there, just take the food for its price and see for yourself. It's worth the trip nonetheless.
Listen to the Nay Sayers. I have got to go with the nay sayers on this one! I don't want even one more person crowding into this little dive making it difficult for me to get a seat. So just ignore the devine fragrence as you walk by and just keep on walking - if you can!
Fasntastic Little lunch spot downtown.
Ok, for the $, this is probaly the best food in Seattle. Everything seems to be between $5 and $6 and is really good. The Red Curry and the Pad Kee Mao is to die for. the only bad thing is that this little gem is crowded. Really crowded. Call in your order on a nice day and carry out and eat in the sun! Or show up early (11:15) or late (1:15).
Or even better, call in your order and carry it home at night!
Overrated? Oh Yeah.
Do not know what the deal is with some reviewers - best Thai in Seattle? Not close.
Went for the first time to Mae Phim - as soon as I tasted my Chicken Curry (Rice) it reminded me of the comment which says "chicken has been around a while". It does smell different. Chicken was overcooked so tender, but did not taste very good. Rice was a little gooey. Value for money? Sure, I guess. Would I go there again? Maybe.
Hello Cashew Chicken!. This place has the best service, especially for being so busy. ANd the cashew nut chicken is the best Ive ever had. Every time we go there we try to get the recipe to no avail. Guess we just have to keep going back! YUMM!
Awesome!. I have been going to Mae Phim for about 3 years now. They make the best and most inexpensive authentic thai food. It does get crazy during the lunch hour but it's worth the wait! They know me by name and know exactly how I like my dinner as well as my entire families.
Awesome Thai. Those naysayers are crazy - this is some of the most authentic Thai food in Seattle (take it from someone who's lived there!). Exceptional food - all made to order (they have warming trays but in the 7 years I've been going there for lunch I've NEVER seen them used). It gets a bit hectic because it's so popular. My advice - call ahead and pick up your order to eat outside in nice weather or make all your coworkers jealous the rest of the year!
Inexpensive downtown Thai makes for great lunch takeout..
In Short
Fast paced and dirt cheap, this friendly family-run restaurant offers a handful of simple dishes to eat in or take out. A dozen Formica tables fill up quickly, but service is speedy. Lower-downtown working folk can sit down to an enormous plate of pad thai or curry (and more often than not, a complimentary bowl of soup as well), and still have time to window-shop before the clock strikes "You're late."
Awesome idea. Everything one price, everything good, eat in or take out...this is a great place for lunch, especially when money is tight.
yummy!. At $5.01 for every dish on the menu, you can't beat the price. The staff is excellent, from the warm greeting at the door to those that prepare the meal in front of you. Great place.
