Editorial Review for Zeitgeist – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Exposed brick yields to saffron-stained wood shelving and a wall of glass. Put simply, this is a city coffee shop. Regulars from neighboring businesses stop in for shots to keep them going, while artists and writers cozy up to the scattered bistro tables outside. The baristas take their jobs seriously, as befits deep, smooth illy, the house brand of espresso. The cafe also serves a variety of pastries and grilled sandwiches at lunch.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Make it a stop on Pioneer Square's First Thursday's ArtWalks--ideally timing the espresso for right in the middle of the evening.

Zeitgeist is bar none the most beautiful, and inexpensive coffeehouse in downtown Seattle. There is great ambience, attractive baristas, interesting art shows, and delicious coffee. I would recommend Zeitgeist to any tourist coming through Pionner Square, or any local living in downtown Seattle ore the I.D.

Pros: Service, coffee, sandwiches, art, ambience

Cons: None

Brian- This is a former groopie. You gave me some early lessons about coffee and roast profiles. My son and I own Metropolis Coffee Co in Chicago. I now know how much effort goes into maintaining quality after 2 and 1/2 years of roasting with running a a coffeehouse . Your place is great! You deserve all the success that you get. The owner and staff are knowledgable and friendly; the feeling is wonderful, very much like my favorite places in Italy, France and yes, there's a Zeitgeist-looking place in Lima,Peru too. Hope to get back to Seattle soon and say hello, and enjoy a good cup.

Pros: great coffee, espresso, soups
