Editorial Review for The Sorrento Hotel – by Citysearch Editors

The Scene
The palm trees in front of the Sorrento are misleading--aside from its Italianate exterior, there's little Mediterranean about it. The interior ambience is clubby, with lots of dark-wood paneling, a fireside library and lounge and tastefully furnished guest rooms--the sleek atmosphere has as many Asian hints as Italian. If the city's nighttime skyline is part of your definition of romance, make sure you ask for one of the north- or west-facing rooms.

The Details
The elegant rooms have old-money fabrics and Italian marble bathrooms; the bed comes equipped with Egyptian cotton sheets and a mattress firmness menu. An old-fashioned french press comes in lieu of a coffeemaker. For the big spenders, the music suite is filled with the owner's private collection of rock memorabilia and a deluxe sound system; the huge top-floor penthouse has a grand piano, patio and one of the best hotel room views in Seattle.

I find myself in a different bed every other night due to the amount of traveling I do for work. I just recently stayed at The Sorrento Hotel for the first time, not really by choice, but because my regular hotel was sold-out. Its funny how things work out, I normally would not have considered staying at The Sorrento Hotel, but now that I have stayed there it is now my home away from home when I’m in Seattle on business. The staff helped me to feel right at home, the complimentary town car would take me any where I needed to go....It was perfect!!!!!!

Wonderful boutique hotel. Upscale accomodations, the beds are pillotop with lots of pillows. French press for your morning coffee and desk includes a printer in your room. Our meeting was held in a grand room with great light from outside. The hotel staff is comendable and very customer oriented. Gym is adequate with machines. The only negative is the distance from the waterfront (not walkable).

Pros: Luxury

Cons: Elevator (old)
