This is a great hotel... especially if you love pets. Bring your doggy and he will be given the royal treatment!

You have to check out the Alexis. I stayed here one New Years Eve and it was a fabulous hotel. Spacious, with a patio deck, nice bathrooms, comfy beds. Even little mini fridges! We had a very enjoyable experience staying here!

Plus you can't beat the location!

I want to live here!. I had the biggest smile on when I walked into my room at the Alexis. It was sooo adorable. Like something out of a doll-house. A really cool, funky, doll-house! Oversized headboards and couches with lots of colorful funky pillows. And the art that is hanging on all the walls and corredors--so cool! It's like visiting an art gallery for free! The location was pretty good, walking distance to the market, etc. Price was fair too..only complaint is I got in really late, was hungry and wanted room service. But their late-night menu was not very appealing at all. They need to add more options. Other than that...I wish I lived at the Alexis...

Beautiful Boutique Hotel Downtown. My wife and I stayed here for a little "stay-cation" and had a beautiful time, we used the 15% OFF coupon attached with citysearch and enjoyed both the location, and all the amenities. I'd recommend for a nice place, in a great location

Romantic Getaway Best. I stayed at the Alexis in January for a romantic weekend with my very hot boyfriend. They didn't have our room ready, so they bought us drinks in the Library Bar until they did! The bartender was great that day and the cocktails led to ........The second day, he (the bartender, silly) was L*O*A*D*E*D beyond belief but was still functional. Such is the charm of Seattle. The room was impeccable. The view was georgeous. I loved the art...you'd have to be a narrow-minded bigot not to. The staff were so great. The bed was, well, worth the trip. Go. Enjoy.

Best Service in any hotel I have every stayed. Spent 9 nights at Alexis and had the greatest service I have ever had. Staff is amazing in the response time to a request, great with tips on where the locals eat, shop and what to do in the city. Hotel caters to any whim you may have and was available for you 24/7. Would not even consider staying anywhere but here when traveling to Seattle. Nice size rooms. clean was an understatement and the staff is best in any class.

This fairly inconspicuous lower downtown charmer is the epitome of a fine boutique hotel.. The Scene
The Alexis is much more than outward appearances suggest. Occupying most of its block on First Avenue, its only street-front manifestations are two compact lobbies on First Avenue and Madison Street. Step inside and you enter a friendly, low-key world reminiscent of small-to-medium European hotels, with cheery colors and stucco walls. The Sultan of Brunei wanted to book the entire hotel for APEC in 1993; other visitors had reserved rooms, so the sultan offered to buy the whole property. Eventually, the other guests were housed elsewhere. The hotel's ownership didn't change, but the sultan did redecorate all the rooms.

The Details
Rooms are large, discreetly furnished and very quiet. The service is exceptionally accommodating. The Chihuly vases along the walkway to the elevators are the genuine items, from the days before he became as well known as his artwork.

experience varies. Because we live 1 block away, we have put up most of our guests at the Alexis. Their reactions vary to loving it to being disgruntled. This applies to room decoration, noise and service! Comments are: some rooms are hideously decorated ie. pop art. One couple said the service was bad the whole stay, housekeeping took away personal items and then they could not be found. No apologies/compensation offered. Lastly the noise. When I make reservations, I do not find the staff helpful. Figure that!

More recently because of the mixed reactions and my own difficulties, I have been booking my guests at Inn at the Harbor Steps. There it is perhaps a bit more homespun. But they bill themselves as an inn, not a full-service hotel.

Romantic and Pet Friendly Too. My partner and I just returned from a stay at the Alexis. We chose the hotel because of its dog-friendly policies. Then I read the negative reviews here and started to have second thoughts. I'm glad I put those thoughts to rest because we had a wonderful time. Check in was friendly and smooth; the staff accommodated our request for a quiet room. Our room was large and very comfortable. The service overall was prompt, friendly, and thorough. They even walked our pup while we were out. Considering the pet policies, I felt the hotel was a reasonable value. We are looking forward to returning.
