Editorial Review for Anthropologie – by Sarah Preston
In Short
Tailored but never trendy, this affordable chain has been keeping the closets of career gals and housewives stocked with good-quality, basic wardrobe-builders, shoes and accessories since 1954. Diligent shoppers can unearth some seasonal options with more of an edge too: suede wrap skirts, retro-print separates or clingy little black dresses. Frequent sales make these stores prime ops for college grads on the prowl for interview suits, weddings and first-job career-wear.

Great variety. Classic and trendy -lots of character. Love the website and catalog -I can see the stuff on models and mannequins before I conquer the store. Great items on the sale rack. The ability to mix and match at the store is the best feature. Accessories and shoes are so unique. Home accessories are kitch and well done. Boutique feel from a chain store. Service lacks, so beware if you need it. The best way to describe the look of the store -romantic. A pleasant place to shop because the merchandising is ecclectic and the lighting is natural. I prefer the layout of the UVillage over the downtown store. I recommend that you try on anything before buying. In some of the brands, pants fit big and the tops fit small. I am a average size and I usually don't try things on at other stores.
Pros: selection, ambience, University Village
Cons: parking
