Editorial Review for Second Time Around Music – by John Coyle

In Short
Dust off your turntable. If you're willing--or actually prefer--to buy music on old-fashioned vinyl, Second Time Around is a must visit, as it's a cheap way to fill the holes in your music collection. DJs, university students looking for music on the cheap and vinyl junkies fill the rows hunting for weird records and out-of-print classics. Piles of of used CDs supplement the vinyl.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Inspect vinyl before you buy. If you can't visually tell whether something is playable, drop it onto one of the turntables scattered around the store and give it a test run.

Vastly improved since my last visit a few years ago. Seattle's best kept secrert is back. The customer service was great; knowledgeable staff and not nearly as pretentious as at competing stores. The store looks different but it's full of treasures. Even though the prices were the best I've seen in the country I found so much that I had to leave a few gems behind. The staff did make it easier on my wallet with their willingness to wheel & deal. Highly recommended, a record hunt in Seattle is not complete with out a visit to this U district institution. Don't forget to bring in your old items for a great trade in deal.

Pros: helpful staff, great prices, fair trade ins
