The Scene – On warm evenings, lines run the length of this long, narrow University District sweet shop and seating is extremely limited. Friendly employees stand in front of marble slabs where they mix and mash everything from Gummi Bears to graham crackers (called "mix-ins") into the desired flavor of ice cream to create made-to-order treats. – – The Food – The five flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt--chocolate, vanilla, sweet cream, cheesecake and espresso--are all made in-house. A blackboard behind the counter prescribes suggested combinations, including which…
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Employees can sometimes be a tad too generous with mix-ins. If you don't want to be eating a little ice cream with your coconut, make sure to request they go easy on ingredients.
- When to Go:
- If your ice-cream craving hits on a warm night, your best bet is to get a scoop at the Green Lake location, where outdoor seating is available.
DON'T GO

The MIX locations are both closed - out of business. Greenlake location at north end of the lake, near World Wraps, is being replaced by a Ben & Jerry's (FYI)
- Pros: used to be good
- Cons: they went out of business
Good ice cream
by kee22 at Citysearch
The mix is pretty good. I like their ice cream better than their milkshakes. The lines are almost always long and there's limited seating, especially weekend nights. The atmosphere is so so. The staff is very nice. Overall, I think the mix is very, very good.
- Pros: great ice cream, fun to have diff. things mixed into ice cream
- Cons: long lines, limited seating
MANNA FROM HEAVEN!!!
by nanny at Citysearch
A scoop of this homemade delight has to be a "little taste of heaven"!! Either location the quality and service is awesome. Late night desert craver's BEWARE! A few extra mile jog around Green Lake is definately a small price to pay for this reward.
- Pros: Exceptional Product.
- Cons: Limited seating. Outside tables would be a plus!
Cool Place, Great Ice Cream
by mthed at Citysearch
Hmmm, I wonder if the negative review above came from a competitor. Didn't provide any reason why they disliked the place. Anyway, the ice cream's great. I've had chocolate, vanilla and sweet cream, which were all great. Very fresh and tasty. The toppings are also very fresh and there's plenty to choose from. I love the style of the place, but it's definitely not for everyone. Looks and feels like it's run by a bunch of hippie college kids (which I think it is). If your a little on the up-tight side, you may want to grab it to go :)
- Pros: Great Ice Cream, Cool Atmosphere, Cool Location
- Cons: , Bit Pricey
UW vs Greenlake Mix
by Turtle_012 at Citysearch
When comparing the UW Mix to the Greenlake store there are huge differences. The mix-ins were the same, but the music is generaly softer and staff friendlier. The store is smaller and is more family orintated, plus it looks cleaner. Dissapointed with the UW store then book it to Greenlake and you'll probably have a better experience. However beware, if they are busy and you are rude or indecisive then they can get a bit touchy but they don't mean it.
- Pros: Parking Garage, Family Orientated, Privatly Owned
- Cons: Limited Seating, Sometimes Long Lines, Prices semi-confusing
