DON'T GO.
The MIX locations are both closed - out of business. Greenlake location at north end of the lake, near World Wraps, is being replaced by a Ben & Jerry's (FYI)

Good ice cream.
The mix is pretty good. I like their ice cream better than their milkshakes. The lines are almost always long and there's limited seating, especially weekend nights. The atmosphere is so so. The staff is very nice. Overall, I think the mix is very, very good.

MANNA FROM HEAVEN!!!.
A scoop of this homemade delight has to be a "little taste of heaven"!! Either location the quality and service is awesome. Late night desert craver's BEWARE! A few extra mile jog around Green Lake is definately a small price to pay for this reward.

Co-eds get a lesson in ice cream decision-making with more than 31 flavors..
The Scene
On warm evenings, lines run the length of this long, narrow University District sweet shop and seating is extremely limited. Friendly employees stand in front of marble slabs where they mix and mash everything from Gummi Bears to graham crackers (called "mix-ins") into the desired flavor of ice cream to create made-to-order treats.
The Food
The five flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt--chocolate, vanilla, sweet cream, cheesecake and espresso--are all made in-house. A blackboard behind the counter prescribes suggested combinations, including which mix-ins go best with each flavor. Try a waffle cone with strawberry cheesecake (cheesecake ice cream, graham crackers and strawberries) or, for a real caffeine high, a cup with Jet City Buzz--espresso ice cream and a shot of espresso.

Cool Place, Great Ice Cream.
Hmmm, I wonder if the negative review above came from a competitor. Didn't provide any reason why they disliked the place. Anyway, the ice cream's great. I've had chocolate, vanilla and sweet cream, which were all great. Very fresh and tasty. The toppings are also very fresh and there's plenty to choose from. I love the style of the place, but it's definitely not for everyone. Looks and feels like it's run by a bunch of hippie college kids (which I think it is). If your a little on the up-tight side, you may want to grab it to go :)

UW vs Greenlake Mix.
When comparing the UW Mix to the Greenlake store there are huge differences. The mix-ins were the same, but the music is generaly softer and staff friendlier. The store is smaller and is more family orintated, plus it looks cleaner. Dissapointed with the UW store then book it to Greenlake and you'll probably have a better experience. However beware, if they are busy and you are rude or indecisive then they can get a bit touchy but they don't mean it.

The Best.
This place is so great. While the look and feel may only appeal to liberal college students, the ice cream is for anyone. The variety of flavors is just enough when you start to consider options available with the mix-ins. While there are light choice with the yogurt don't come here on a diet. It's best to get a large and eat it for a meal. While not the cheapest ice cream it is worth every penny. I love going here at being glutonous.

Vivacious Frozen Indulgence.
Mix Ice Cream Bar draws in people of all ages and styles for an overwhelming yet delightful array of decisions. Ecstatic "Mmm"s and "Ooohhh"s fill the place as people in line wait, salivating. Definitely the best ice cream joint in all the world.
