What People Are Saying About Araya's Vegetarian Place

In Short – Religious about vegetables, this University District Thai restaurant is popular for Buddhists, vegans and others who like it fresh and pure--steadfast omnivores might not even miss their normal beef or chicken. Fresh herbs and spicy oils flavor traditional favorites like pad thai and pineapple fried rice, while unusual treats such as Drunken Mushrooms (portobellos with rice noodles) keep things interesting for regulars.
Editor's Tips
- Save Money:
- Monday through Saturday, the lunch buffet is an outstanding value: $5.99 supplies more lunch than is possible to eat.

This is a great place for a delicious all you can eat vegan thai lunch buffett for only 7.95$ even on saturdays. It opens at 11 and there are usually people waiting by the door to get in. Its such a great deal. If by some chance you dont like the lunch buffett choices you can order off the regular menu too, I recently tried the lemon tofu and it was delcious, I don't think I have ever had lemon tofu before anywhere. Its got a very tangy flavor that I quite enjoyed. My favorite part of the buffett is the soup so flavorful, but there are also many dishes, including rice, dessert, salad, egg rolls, etc. My non veg boyfriend loves the egg rolls and usually eats most of his fill solely on these. One day I will make it for dinner, but I am always called by the buffett. Menu items sound just as delicious.
- Pros: 7.95$ all you can eat lunch buffet, vegan
- Cons: closed sunday, service
Great vegetarian Thai food

Very good food is the first comment I want to make. I did find a dish or two being a little too sugary but no complaints on that. Most Thai places have food that smells of fish sauce and as a vegetarian it used to make me nauseous. No such thing here at Araya and I can enjoy the awesome Thai curries without any such thing to hold me back. Their fake meat is also very delicious. The service was excellent and food arrived in a short time. I expect to be regular at this place and I will take any visitors to this place.
- Pros: Totally veg, Vegan options,
- Cons: Little cramped, a little too sugary
Okay vegan food

Good place if you are hungry. It is actually more Asian fusion than Thai though. My only complaint is that every dish was very salty.
