Editorial Review for Schultzy's Sausage – by Anna Roth

In Short
This classic joint has been delivering students and faculty the staples since 1988: five German beers on tap and sold by the liter, hearty sausages and mountains of shoestring potatoes. Grad students camp out at the dark wooden booths or, in the nicer months, snag a spot on the leafy back patio. Though sausages are the menu standards, lighter appetites will be appeased with the large selection of veggie burgers and salads.

I had two bratwursts and fries at the bar. The fries were delicious and addictive. The bratwursts were smaller than I would have preferred. One wasn't enough to fill me up. The beer was awesome. I had the Baron German Lager, a locally produced beer, in a Liter stein. I could have had two liters in Das Boot if I wanted. The bartender and staff were friendly. If they made the brats larger, or had a larger selection of different link sausages, I'd have given it 5 stars...there's still some room for improvement, but if you like sausage and beer in a fun atmosphere, this is a fantastic place to go.

There is nothing cheap about this place. Ten dollars for a sausage is not cheap nor were they very good. Okay at best. The fries are the shoestring variety and are pretty tasty. But when you get up and leave, after tax and tip and a drink to go along with your lunch, you just spent ten or in my case $12+ for a hot dog lunch. Sorry but I won't be coming back.

Pros: Fries

Cons: Pricey, not a good value at all
