The Scene
Since it's just steps away from the University of Washington campus, the clientele is almost exclusively starving students, save for the occasional burger fan on a carnivorous pilgrimage. This is no place to impress your date--the wallpaper is peeling and the service is curt, but it's all relative when the cheeseburgers are this good.
The Food
There's a bit of an identity crisis at play here--teriyaki, Japanese katsu and a few lonely salads share menu space with the burgers. The teriyaki is surprisingly good--light on the sugar and heavy on spice, but the classic grilled burgers are the main attraction. They're juicy, simply dressed with iceberg lettuce and beefsteak tomato--they're also a bit on the small side, so order a double and don't forget the slim fresh-cut fries.

People only seem to like this place for the Terriyaki Terri- Burger. It's okay, but I have tasted better. The prices are cheap, but you can find cheaper burgers in the University District. The fries are also just mediocre. You will probably smell the smoke coming from the grill and be tempted to go in, but don't be fooled.

I've only gotten the burgers here, but they are GREAT! Juicy and flavorful and strangely placed on the menu next to teryaki dishes. That's part of the appeal though: you can find a tasty burger in a joint that has an identity crisis. For students, it is reasonably priced and their fries are FANTASTIC especially if you like them a little more salty than average. Highly recommended for a good hamburger.
