The menu is all over the map at this so-called Greek place. That includes deep-fried mozzarella, quesadillas and burgers. If you have your heart set on gyros, the kitchen can accomodate.
THE BEST GREEK, AMERICAN, AND OTHER.
I have no clue when those negative comments were written but it must have been a while ago. When I went with my girlfriends family the food, service, drinks, and environment of the restaurant was fantastic. Extremely friendly service and every time I have gone it has been a family member of the restaurant serving me. I had the kalamari and it tasted like it does in Greece. The tzaziki sauce was also super good.
I am now a regular and can afford it
Good stuff!. i tried this place last week with my wife and sister and i thought it was all around nice. it looks like its obviously been remodeled since i last saw it about a year or two ago but more importantly i enjoyed the food. personally i love Greek food but my wife does not. thankfully there were plenty of things for both of us to choose from. i had the roast lamb and she had a smoked salmon fettucini. i thought the lamb was very good, full of flavor and a good portion! my wifes fettucini was also big and tasted great, creamy with fresh fettucini. add to this an appetizer of calamari, a beer and i'm a happy man. my sister ordered just a burger but she said it was also good. it was one of those big half pound ones with those cool circular greek fries they have. all in all i was very satisfied and recommend this restaraunt to anyone. i am eager to come back and try their breakfast since i hear its what they're known for in the neighborhood!!
hoirrble food, service utterly terrible. Stay away from here!.
My experience at this place was pretty bad. My girlfriend and I are big fans of greek cuisine, and when we moved to the University district we decided to try this place.
We were seated at the far back of the restaurant when it was only about 1/4 full. I didn't think anything of it until later.
For over 45 minutes we sat there without any contact from the staff, they didn't even take our drink orders. When I stood up to go get a waitress she looked at me coming and quickly walked away into the kitchen. Finally they came and took our orders. Because we had already had some drinks we didn't want to run out on our bill but we could not get in contact with another staff for over an hour and a half. We saw them constantly avoiding us and the other patrons and would not offer any explanations. When our food finally came out they had replaced the eggplant in our mousaka with POTATOES!!!!!!!! It tasted awful and was not very good at all, considering they charged over 10.00 for it! We complained and they didn't care. It took another hour to get our check. Never once did ANYONE ever refill our water.
Stay away from this place, I can't believe it stays in business.
Faux-Greek Disgrace. It is a crime to label this restaurant "Greek." Not only was Costas inauthentic, it was inedible. This has to be some of the worst Greek food I have ever had. The gyro was made with pre-fab beef rectangles! The cardboard, grocery store variety pita wasn't even toasted! The tzatzki wasn't tzatzki at all, but tartar sauce (at least it was more akin to tartar sauce). You can get a vastly superior gyro from a street vendor any day. The moussaka was served with a steak knife to cut it with, if that is any indication of how hard it was. The bechamel had a disgustingly thick lumpy texture that gagged me with every bite. The meal wasn't even served with Greek salad, but an American style dinner salad. The side dishes were overly salty and overly cooked. The only savior of the meal was the saganaki, which was tasty. Because it was served with the cardboard pita, rather than Greek bread, you couldn't appreciate it's flavor. I could not force myself to choke down even half of my meal. Unless you would purposely like to torture your tastebuds, NEVER EAT AT COSTAS!!!
Don't dine here unless you have PLENTY of time. The food here is very good, especially the avgolemono soup, but the service is terribly slow and unattentive. No refills of water or coffee.
A Nice Sunday Brunch.
Dishes: Avgolemono Soup, Spanakopita
The soup was very good, and the Spanakopita was very light and crispy. Service took a while, though it was Sunday at noon and a bit packed.
Second Best Greek on the Ave. Not as flavorfull and zesty as some other Seattle Greek food, a little steep for a student budget, and for all that was invested in the decor, it still doesn't raise one's spirits.
