The Experience
The Wizards of the Coast Game Center is a first-rate introduction to the world of role-playing card games--not to mention the coolest in electronic and high-tech
interactive amusements this side of GameWorks. The interior of the 32,000 square foot space feels like the set of a sword-and-sorcery movie, with warriors painted on bathroom doors and a huge Hurloon Minotaur (from the Magic card game) guarding the stairs that lead down to the War Room.
Inside the War Room, you'll find a network of computers that can be used for Internet surfing or playing games from a huge library of titles (there's a $6 charge per hour or $4 per half-hour for computer use). Also downstairs is the Gathering, an area where players sit at tables for rounds of Magic and other card games. Free tutors are available for first-timers and tournament play is ongoing.
You'll Want to Know
The Upper level includes the Docking Bay and Airlock areas where the latest and greatest in electronic and pinball arcade games can be played. You'll find San Francisco Rush, Virtual Cop Deluxe, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Ms. Pacman for much cheaper than at GameWorks, Wizards downtown counterpart.…
