The Scene
This conveniently located, 135-room hotel started its life as the Sherwood Hotel ... take a guess at who highlighted the theme? The Robin Hood motif isn't evidenced from the outside, but the walls of the lobby still sport the fake facades of old English houses from the Prince of Thieves' day. The restaurant, puzzlingly, is called Excalibur.
The Details
Were it not for the shades of Sherwood Forest, the hotel would be fairly non-descript. The typical rectangular architecture circles round a courtyard with an open-air pool (not always the foremost amenity on your mind when visiting Seattle, but if the day is sunny, there's nothing better). The hotel is located across the street from Interstate 5, and the rooms facing the highway tend to be noisy. An almost short walk delivers you to the shops of Wallingford in one direction and the University District in the other.
