What People Are Saying About Hale's Ales Pub

The Scene – Upon entering this handsomely sturdy facility, visitors immediately get a full view of the brewing works. The pub, meanwhile, sits sealed behind closed doors to the left. While the layout may suggest something about Hale's priorities, the pub is hardly an afterthought. Dimly lit with lots of dark wood accented by brass and porcelain fixtures, the main bar area invites lingering. A dining room and an outdoor deck are somewhat less stately, but open to guests under 21. – – The Draw – Open since 1983, Hale's knows its business well; the Pale Ale and Moss Bay…
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- There's no real lot, so parking can be problematic. It's just a few feet from the Burke-Gilman Trail, so biking is sometimes the better option.
- Know Before You Go:
- Hale's can accommodate up to 90 guests for special events in its upstairs meeting facility.
Heavenly and frothsome!

Beer was beyond excellent and we New Yorkers were bowled over!
Thanks to a timely tip by a local pharmacist at Walgreens we got the best treat Seattle could offer.
Beer at Hale's ale after a hot day's walk for a tourist is like a sweet dose of frothy heaven!!!
Brews good, service could be better

I like going here for the brews, the food is definately better than most pub fare (I like the mac & cheese), but the service isn't great-I walked in with a friend when there were few patrons, we sat down at a booth right in front of the bar, and waited 10 minutes before going up to the bar and asking if the tables where still open. I would go more often if it was better.
Great place for a Family--or not!!

I have gone to Hale's many times and I will continue to go there until they fail to impress me, which is unlikely. The food is phenomenal, at least all that I have had, which is most of the menu. The family section is definitely not just for people over 21 who are just looking for a drink, and is frequented by families with kids under 10, but there is a completely different section for only 21 and over, and still has the same great service and food, but plus the bar. Unless you are just going for an appetizer, it is very unlikely that Hale's food will leave you hungry, yet most likely wanting more.
Though sometimes the service could be a little faster, the servers are always very nice, and I love stopping in for a guarenteed delicious meal!
The best quality fish and chips ever!!!!!
by gaylehayes at Citysearch
I stopped ordering fish and chips because I got tired of the heavy batter, too much oil, and poor quality fish....but Hale's Ales Pub delivers the best fish and chips ever. They also have wild salmon on the menu at a very reasonable price. Please do not pay any attention to some bad reviews. It is such a fun atomosphere with great service. I look forward to going back again and again
- Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, fun, amazing food and service
- Cons: None
Don't bother....

We made a reservation for 13 people after my son's graduation, for someplace that we thought would be good yet casual. We had read the "Entrees and Sandwiches" menu on line, which turned out to be only available at dinner. Service was the worst I've ever had, with no silverware or napkins on the table until we asked for them -- after our food arrived. My husband's salad came out of the kitchen wrong, and finally after 15 minutes of waiting for a replacement, I went and complained to the manager. He got it 7 minutes after that, as all of the rest of us were done eating. The manager ended up giving us $20 in gift certs (the bill was over $200) but those will go unused as none of us desired a second trip back. As I said, don't bother!
- Pros: None that we found!
