Low Service, High Drama, Negligent Owners. Lock Vista has a few tenants with serious mental health. I cannot recommend moving there as some of these tenants proved to be very disruptive. Management was extremely hands off in solving the problems, in my opinion. I finally moved to get away from one such tenant who just could not manage his delusions and scary behavior. My move happened quickly and at great expense to me. Thankfully the police took the man's behavior seriously and he was jailed for a month. He has since been released and lives back at Lock Vista. The management chose not to evict him for his threatening behavior even though his actions were in direct violation of the lease. If you are a woman, I definitely can't recommend living here as my experience proved to be a very unsafe, disruptive and costly one.

As well, Riverstone management will gouge you if you decide to stay month-to-month once your lease is up. After your initial lease is up, they will charge a $100 rent increase plus an additional month-to-month fee of ($100), if you don't sign on for at lest 6 more months. Seriously!?

I imagine the owners are intentionally unaware of the safety issues and the business practices at Lock Visa. I hope so. If they are aware of what is going on and just don't care that would be quite disappointing. The owners are highly involved in local social causes and they are huge philanthropists especially for social and environmental causes, education, and the arts. The owners are part of a very well-off Seattle family that made it's money founding a Forbes 100 company. I admire the owner's giving spirit and wish their good intentions would carry over to properly managing their apartment building. Ironically, a number of their tenants work in the arts, education, and in social causes.

EXPENSIVE - NOISY !!! DECEPTIVE MANAGEMENT...YOU WILL NOT SL. forget sleeping BECAUSE of BARKING dogs and jumping children....maybe you want to listen in on your neighbors ....,yup , you will be able to hear exactly what they say AND THEY YOU when they talk and bump and grind! There is no INSULATION so normal volumes of tv and stereo SOUND is AUDIBLE from 8 doors down! If your neighbors wear hard shoes its like drumming on your ceiling. Check out the VISITOR PARKING spaces with lots of signs, BUT always full !! Management talks make believe service with a smile ….....but just try having someone find a space... oh and when you pay for parking they can not and will not protect or tow from your space! But hey they will give you an after hours # and then you find that their policy is TO DO NOTHING! the Washing machines are usually broken..on site management is always busy re-renting and not in their office ….After 5 o'clock on site management leaves and drunk noisy neighbors PARTYON ! WOO- HOO... think -a hundred or so apartments and no ONE ON site for assistance with illegal activity ! Why not come on down and check out the moldy basement storage units that have been vandalised- unprotected parking/tourist trap with buss loads of people going to the park watching ships spew black diesel exhaust....every night the ships in the bay fire up the boilers and you get serious lung disease...or maybe you just want to watch the Famous Lockspot bar fights as the local drunks scream and rant until 5 am...you'll enjoy very high electric bills with handy cracks in the window frames that sing in the wind BRRR.......OR CALL THE TENANTS ASSOCIATION -AS 7 OF THE 36 PAGE LEASE CONTRACT HAS ILLEGAL ADDENDUM'S …........Tenants Rights Hot-line: 206-723-0500

You Can Do Better. I find the current managment team to be friendly and fairly responsive to tennant issues. Unfortunately, there were plenty of issues throughout the course of my lease. The main problem was noise...and there was plenty of it.

After talking to other tennants at the Lock Vista, I gather that the location of your apartment and the lifestyle of your neighbors is proportionate to the amount of noise you can expect.

In my case, the apartment I chose was sandwiched between 2 of the loudest people I have ever experienced in my 20 years of renting. Add to this that the apartments are VERY poorly insulated and you arrive at the likely possibilty of hearing EVERYTHING that goes down in your neighbor's apartment.

I was fortunate to live above a person who got drunk and fought with his girlfriend regularly - and below another who conducted band practice on Sunday afternoons.

The walls are so poorly insulated that on a couple of occasions, the tennant above me pounded on the floor to silence the tennant below me.

I imagine if you rented a corner apartment on the top floor facing away from the idling busses and roaming bands of hobos, you could do well to live at the Lock Vista.

Yes, you're probably more likely to find the maintenance team hanging out at the Sloop rather than repairing what needs fixing.

Yes, you may find that people park in the reserved space that you pay for while the management team refuses to have anyone towed.

You may even find that the intercom doesn't function for months or the elevator is regularly out of service.

If you never have guests, use the stairs regularly, don't have a car, and nothing in your apartment ever needs servicing, you're as golden as the gardens just down the road.

Outside of that scenario, I would excersise caution.

Great place, terrible management. I moved to the Lock Vista a year and a half ago- not only was the management team terrible, they lied and deceived people for months! They never responded to noise or other complaints - but the moment they could ding you for money they would. The new management isnt any better. Be careful what you sign, read everything carefully. I loved my apartment but not even that could keep me at the Lock Vista. It was by far the worst living experience I have ever had, and it was all thanks to the property management. If you are looking for somewhere to settle down, live quietly and have a nice neighborhood community, this is NOT the place for you.

Lock Vista people are great minus one. wow aren't you lucky the laws changed so you could get a little old lady with major physical and mental handicaps kicked out of the home that she had lived in for 20 years. She suffered with a terrible head injury.

She was sent mixed messages like Tanya, Kari's sister smoking with her on several occasions in her apartment. She did take her habit outside and to the demise of her health. Due to all the confusion and stress she ended up having a heart attack on Thanksgiving. Maybe she would have any way but you and

your cruel self absorbed continuous harasssment put her over the edge. Did you ever talk to her and treat her like a human being or did you hide behind Kari like a coward. Her whole world was in ballard. She can't drive. She has no family. You devasted a persons life just so you wouldn't be inconvenienced. Go stand on your soap box and defend your rights to the demise of another. Get over yourself. We all have vices, I can only hope whatever yours is that it too becomes illegal and people treat you with contempt. That woman spent her Christmas on the skids, how was yours? Kari may have been in the right but it was badly handled. How a sicko like you can sleep at night is beyond me. Lock vista is full of wonderful people you're clearly not one of them. The management has come a long way but has much further to go. How is Kari supposed to do her best when she is has to cope with petty creeps like you. Get out and take your self righteous attitude with you. Lock Vista is a great a place to live. There are many wonderful and interesting people here. The management is better than most. The location can't be beat for bus commuters and walkers. My studio has a nice view.
