Editorial Review for McCormick & Schmick's – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Upscale and sophisticated, this chain features art deco-inspired trappings such as dark wood, shiny brass and beveled glass. Servers clad in black and white weave through cocktailing couples and businessmen at the bar. The classic American, seasonally inspired seafood menu changes daily; specialties include starters of Dungeness crab cakes and oysters on the half shell, plus entrees like cedar plank-roasted salmon, sauteed lobster with scallops and rock shrimp, and seared yellowfin tuna with wasabi, soy and ginger.

I would highly recommend McCormicks for large party reservations! My office has about 15 people in it and I was in charge of our company "happy hour" in which I needed to reserve a room. Our other plans had dropped the DAY OF and I had to book a private room for only 6 hours from then! McCormicks catering planner, Rasa, was a great help and even pulled a few strings for me to lower the minimum a bit because our party was relatively small. Unlike the Icon Grill hostess that picked up and laughed at me for trying to get day-of reservations. I will never go there again; I don't know about you, but I don't appreciate being laughed at no matter how ridiculous the request. Thanks to Rasa everything went very smoothly! The room was perfect and very impressive! The lighting was just right for a corporate "mixer" and the apps and drinks were excellent. Our server (I wish I would have gotten her name!) was very sweet and helpful! Definately would tell my friends/go again.
Pros: Three stories or so; very much a place to take someone you want to impress. Staff was very friendly and professional
Cons: A bit expensive, but you wouldn't expect a place like that to be cheap! Paying for parking is never a plus.

I keep going back and hoping for something different but never leave 100% satisfied. My first visit was so awful, they've comp-ed me ever since. The food is hit-or-miss. Stick with the sandwiches at their Westlake property and have a seafood dinner at the downtown location - which has the best "McCormick's" food in Seattle. The Westlake property is beautiful and has a great brunch though. If you want to show your out-of-towners a beautiful view and eat a good brunch, go to Westlake. If you want to have them taste a good meal at dinner-time, go downtown. They haven't given up on me so I'm not giving up on them.
Pros: Location
