Chutney's made its name with standards mixed with "Americanized" variations on Indian flavors. Dishes range from traditional vegetable pakoras (deep-fried vegetable dumplings) to chicken tandoori, marinated in yogurt and baked in a round clay oven. The signature tikka masala, with chunks of lamb bathed a blend of butter, cream and curry, is as rich as it sounds.

I usually don't write negative reviews but this is hands down the worst Indian restaurant around. First & last dining experience here! Every dish ordered was lacking authentic flavor and the sauces were watered down. We ordered lamb kabobs (very tough), Chicken Pomegranate & Chicken Korma. Sauces were so runny & consistency quite odd, raita was also very watered down. Main Ingredient in sauces is 90% water 10%salt and 0%Flavor. To make it worse, the rice was undercooked and had some crunch to it. Flavor & spices so lacking. I would never suggest eating here unless you had no choice. No kidding, this is not a good place to eat.

We were looking for a good Indian restaurant to celebrate my birthday (28 Nov)and after reading reviews here, we decided to visit Chutney. We ordered Paneer teeka masala, Mushroom with peas and Chutney's special sauce with vegetable. Order came in less than 5 min, which surprised us, Indian food takes more time to cook. Paneer teeka masala had load of salt in it, we complained to waiter but he rudely replied that ' everyone love this dish and no one complained so far' . He refused to believe us, even though we asked him to taste it. Mushroom with peas was disappointment, there were hardly any mushroom in it and it looked stale. Chutney spoiled my birthday, bad service, rude waiters and crappy food. Do a favor to yourself, AVOID IT or recommend it to your enemies. After trying all Indian restaurant in Seattle area, I found out that Kabab House and Naan & Curry (Renton) are the best ones.

Well, all I can say is this--I have tried many Indian restaurants in the USA, right across from New York to Frisco, but soon as I walked into Chutneys, I just felt so relaxed and "at home". They had some kinda Indian song tune playing, but without any vocals, which just gave it that extra air of authenticity. There was a middle aged guy standing by the cash till, whom I assumed to be the owner, and soon as I walked in, he immediately walked towards me with huge smile and welcoming pleasantries. This was followed by a yound lady who took my coat and asked where I wanted to sit. The food I ordered was absolutely superb, with a great range of cold beers to suit. After I had eaten my fill, the lady asked me if I wanted a cup of Indian spice tea, which I agreed to, and that really rounded off an excellent, relaxing evening! On another occasion, after a long walk at the PIke Place Market, I stumbled upon another Indian restaurant called Pabla Cuisine, which I think is at 2nd St near the market. This place was the complete reversal of Chutneys--surly, uninterested Staff, horrible, mass-produced type food. Two weeks later, I was back at Chutneys, sampling their delights again! Oh, and I found out the name of the owner--Mr Gill. Next time you are there, ask for him by name and he will help you choose your dishes and tell you a little about them, too! And mention my name (Jag from London UK) and you will get preferential treatment! PS one time I was at Chutneys at lunchtime and the place was packed--so much so, that the waiters had to virtually barricade the door shut to stop any more people coming in!!! That would not happen if the place was lousy!! By the way, this is review is about the place in Lower Queen Anne Street.
