The Scene – The interior is nothing out of the ordinary--nondescript white walls and early '90s accents mask what feels like a former office space--but it doesn't detract from the experience. While the bar side fills with revelers before and after Key Arena and Seattle Center events, the restaurant's tables are full of families and neighborhood locals. Service is generally quick, though can flag when there's a crowd. – – The Food – Though not authentic by any means, the menu is dominated by classics that will satisfy any deep cravngs for Chinese food. Most of the menu…

Disappointing Chinese food.

by asianexpertcuisine

Ordered a take out and was very disappointed in the quality and quantity of their lunch special. I ordered hot&sour soup was acceptable, chang sa chicken - partially raw (is it ok to eat partially raw chicken?), vegetables were soggy and the spinach was clumped into a bundle, egg roll had no flavor and was not crispy, fried rice was actually not bad but was only good for a couple of bites and then it was gone (a little too stingy on the rice), over all I woudn't recommend this place to any of my friends. Disappointing. I guess back to Subway.

Disappointing

by R1der

After reading through the reviews here I decided to give Uptown a try for a date night. The reviews I read here to not match the experience we had. In short, we were quite disappointed with this establishment.

We arrived to a nearly deserted establishment which seemed odd at first. Turns out we were on the leading edge of the dinner rush. Get there early or expect a serious wait. Parking is slim with no handicap parking availiable at the restraunt. Despite being so quiet there was trash on the floor. We were seated at a table for two butted up against the wall. This resulted in one person having to fight with the wall to eat their food.

We started out with the vegatable spring roll appetizer. The rolls were nicely cooked with a crispy exterior and soft interior. The vegetables were finely sliced but had minimal flavoring. The accompanying sauces were of adequate quantity with a nice presentation of mustard dolluped in the sweet sauce.

For dinner my date had the Almond Chicken and I had the Sizzling Chicken. As expected, the Almond Chicken was tender with a crispy bread crumb exterior. The sauce was bland and barely warm. The almonds were stale. My Sizzling chicken was disappointingly mild with little sauce. The dish itself was cooked adequately it just lacked flavor.

Quantity of both dishes was more than adequate. Good strategy if you choose to eat here is to agree upon on main dish and a side like rice. Unlike most Chinese restraunts all dishes are ala carte. There is no dinner plate that includes an entree, rice, & soup. Everything is seperate.

Overall it is below average when compared to other Chinese restraunts in the greater Seattle area. This lackluster rating is primarily due to its price versus lack of quality coupled with a wholly ala carte menu. Restroom facilities mirrored the lack of attention to food quality. I would probably not return on another date night.

  • Pros: Proxmity to Seattle Center events
  • Cons: Food quality, price, parking, ala carte menu

Great American Chinese Food

by happagalinthecity

Best place for american chinese food outside of Chinatown. It not that far from my apt. Staff is always so friendly. I love the almond fried chicken. I never had a problem ever. This place is great.

My company came here once for a goodbye lunch. There were 25 of us and no one had any problems.

  • Pros: Parking, delivery, food
