The Scene – With a dim, oddly-shaped dining room and casual rooftop deck, this neighborhood favorite feels like a party from the first peek through the door. Chef-owner Mike Horri is likely to greet everyone personally, popping open a bottle of wine for each table while inquiring about food allergies. Don't be surprised if he coerces half the restaurant to sing "Happy Birthday" to a table in the other half-and be even less surprised if all but the firmest introvert ends up chatting the night away with near strangers. – – The Food – It's easy to grab a quick and…
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- Non-drinkers should make that clear as soon as possible--otherwise each table gets at least one bottle of wine opened upon arrival. Anything unfinished can be re-corked and brought home.
- The Extras:
- Sundays are available for private parties, or make arrangements for a chartered dinner cruise on Lake Washington.
- Know Before You Go:
- Dinner is not available a la carte, and there is no printed menu. Everyone eats approximately the same meal on a given evening, with some accommodation made for special dietary needs.
- Parking:
- There's an oversized lot across Westlake, on the lake side of the street. Other than an occasional special event--like 4th of July--spots are plentiful.
LOVE IT!

Pasta Freska is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. We went there last night to celebrate our anniversary and they always do a great job creating a fun and memorable experience for us.
There are no menus so part of the fun is the surprise of what the Chef sends to your table. Chef Mike is a very friendly and fun guy who gets to know his customers and understand what you do or don't like to eat. He also has a great sense of humor which adds to the fun.
He first offered us some wine that he picked out that was very well paired with the food we were served. At times we were brought the same food while other times we were served different items. It was fun to try the different food on each others plates. We had an assortment of different Italian dishes throughout the night and we both absolutely loved every single dish!
At the end of the night we had gone through an entire bottle of wine, salad, garlic bread, countless number of various Italian dishes (including eggplant parm, mussels, tuna, meat pasta, lamb, beef,...), a tasty dessert, and a couple glasses of fabulous dessert wine. All of that for $100..! Definitely an incredible value for the night! We can't wait to go back and talk to our friends about it!

If my group is spending $1400 on dinner, don't give me such a bad time about being the only one to order decaf coffee.
HORRID is an understatement!!!

My family elected to take a group of friends and coworkers here for a holiday celebration - WORST MISTAKE EVER.
I cannot even begin to describe how unprofessional and horrific this experience was - I just hope that, by reading this review, you're able to avoid this restaurant at all costs!
Our group arrived at Pasta Freska this afternoon expecting to be the only group there, as they're closed on Sundays except for private events (which we had booked with them well in advance). However, when we showed up, we were informed that they had booked another party there and the excuse was that "we hadn't given him the right contact number." Really? Because they'd been able to contact us several times for the planning of the event. He then informed our group that we'd be going over to the Swedish Cultural Center nearby - but didn't bother to let us know that meant that we'd have our food DRIVEN back and forth, because there was no kitchen there!
And that whole promise that was made during the initial tasting about 'asking what people like and don't like'? And customizing the menu to people's tastes? Ha. Instead we all received the exact same meal (cold, more often than not) and had to use the SAME PLATE for each of the six courses. There's nothing like enjoying eggplant Parmesan - soggy by the time it was driven up to us - chicken Marsala, and fish - all on the same plate, all consumed cold. What a treat!
Dessert was no better - the ice cream part was soup by the time it arrived, and they didn't bring everyone individual desserts, but instead put down desserts for us to "share".
And of course, you never see a menu with pricing for the experience, so this horrific event still set us back over $1,000 for the evening - what a complete rip-off. I'd never go back here and if anyone ever asks my opinion, I'll emphatically tell them to steer clear of this place at all costs. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY other Italian place in Seattle - or go to McDonald's. You'd get better, fresher food and much more professional service. Avoid Pasta Freska at ALL costs!
Hardly worth it...

We recently went to this restaurant and found the atmosphere to be relaxed and fun. The concept of "no menu" was intriguing and different, and since we don't mind trying almost anything, it was AOK with us. The food was good, but frankly it was nothing special. We had a particularly bad experience with the seared tuna. Three of the four diners at our table had a serving of tuna that was old or bad, while the fourth serving was fresh and tasty. Sometimes we had different items at the same table. The prices are not posted anywhere, so you don't know what the cost of wine or dessert is going to be until the end. As it turns out, the basic wine served was quite pricey - great way to jack up the bill unnecessarily. The intervals between courses were far too lengthy, and there were times when we were tired of waiting and it became boring. I did like the unique experience of the non-menu, but the mediocre quality of the food, the expense, and the lagging service weren't worth the cost. There are too many other restaurants to explore to ever return here again.
- Pros: New Concept - no menu, multiple sampler servings, etc.
- Cons: Food is so-so, no prices available, lengthy intervals
yummy delight
