Seattle >Nickerson Street Saloon Grill
Solid choice for bar food.
We made the trip to watch the Super Bowl this year and had a great experience.
The saloon and dining areas have LCD screens in every corner, so it's a great place to watch a game. The server we had was friendly and kept our glasses full.
The food was ok. ok. Nothing great. We ordered wings and nachos and they got the job done. After having gone to college in Western New York State we're pretty accustomed to excellent wings. Nickerson came as close as we have found for good wings in Seattle.
The beer and tap selection was wide and varied. Prices are a little high for a happy hour or game special, but not bad compared to the hipster hangouts across the bridge in Fremont. Domestic microbrew draft was $4.25/pint and $14/pitcher.
My wife and I will certainly be back for happy hour.
Best Wings in Town!. My sweetie had the wings which were so tasty and the meatiest I've ever seen. I usually hate skin but it was crispy the the most amazing way. We also shared the tastiest chicken and beef skewers- not over-cooked. I had the club sandwish- the bacon was meaty and crispy, the turkey fresh and yummy. I asked for a jus sauce for my fries which was flavoured with rosemary- incredible and creative! This is the most comfortable bar i've ever been in. Everyone is friendly- patrons and staff, a really neighborhood -ish feel. I even saw families with small kids at other tables.
Great Atmosphere, Good Food, Horrible Service. Since moving into our new office on Nickerson Street we decided to make this Bar our happy hour spot. The food is great, spicey fries are awesome but the waitress we had last night was horrible. Rude, no personality, had a problem with my drink and it was the end of the world for her. We are hoping the next time we go she is not our server. Customer Service is what keeps people coming back and this place needs a new waitress.
Good food, good service!. This was an all around great experience for my first time at Nickerson St. Fabulous posters of great musicians, in a warm atmosphere could only be beat with on the spot, but breathing down your neck, super friendly, but not fake service. The food was served in a timely manner and definitely tasty, I had the Mediterranean plate and my friend had the chicken quesadilla from the happy hour menu and another had the blue light special pt roast. The only thing I would request would be more beers on tap (there were probably about 15)! All in all this was a fabulous evening of food, beer, friends and service and will definitely be returning, especially when the sun is out and we can sit outside!
Tasty food, good atmosphere. Fun venue, attentive wait staff. Limited happy hour specials but the $1 basket of spicy fries is awesome! Was there three plus hours watching football and didn't feel rushed. The place got pretty packed. Dinner food was good, especially the carne asada steak sandwich on very fresh ciabatta rolls. Prices are average for Seattle bar and the menu is on their web-site. They have an outdoor patio, which might be fun in the summer. It backs Westlake and the bridge so not sure on noise level. Will definitely visit Nickerson again!
Great meeting place; Great bar food.
I would say that Nickerson Saloon is just one of those places where you feel welcome--and it is--but it is much, much more than that. This funky building houses a well-trained staff that are every bit as knowledgable as they are friendly, a four-star rotating selection of microbrews as well as a full bar, and one kick-butt kitchen that can whip out a wide range of foods including Indonesian chicken skewars; hand-rubbed carne asada sandwiches; chicken, corn and bean salad over greens; and Aunt Lucille's meatloaf. It's pub food but with flair and a little ingenuity.
On sunny days, you can't beat sitting out on the open-air deck, the sun going down behind you and Lake Union and the Freemont bridge in front (those of you lucky enough to get a table there for July fourth have found one of the civilized places to watch--and hear--the music and fireworks from Gasworks park), but the Nickerson Saloon is also a good place to spread out indoors, especially during those long winter evenings. Three different rooms, including one that allows minors, gives you a chance to stretch out your legs, relax with a port or cognac, and warm up with one of the two daily soups made from scratch. Oh yeah, and how about them Seahawks! The Nickerson is a superb place to go for sports. Just one of those places. Only much, much better.
This popular neighborhood taproom draws crowds for fun in Fremont..
Though tucked in a particularly odd corner of funky Fremont (just south of the Fremont Bridge), this friendly saloon is maybe most notable for being assertively normal. Some blues and jazz greats grace the walls, but these hardly constitute a theme. Mostly, the healthy crowds of primarily 20- and 30-somethings just savor the bar's clean and well-lit environment. A pool table and some sports-fueled TVs provide the entertainment.
A full bar and a large menu (perhaps too large) of steady food are available, but the crucial offering here is surely the strong lineup of draft microbrews. During the summer months, Nickerson Street's outdoor seating area is the even greater asset--the patio is large, receives a full complement of sunshine, and offers fine views of Lake Union and the Fremont Bridge.
tHANk God it's Open for the Best Food, Best People Watching, great service. I recently went the Saloon, and was quite amazed. I expected the Nickerson to be this neighborhood hangout, I found it was much more. I have always driven by the Nickerson on my way home to Fremont, and always watched cute guys/gals hanging outside. A few friends asked me to stop by after work one day, and everything was incredible. Thanks to the owners, who hire smart, nice people. The food was surprisingly out of this world, Gourmet food at average prices. My favorite was the Hummus platter which is served with Feta Cheese, wow! Ofcourse, any Saloon or hangout has to have great fries. The Nickerson has fresh potato fries, any one have those lately?
The Nickerson is the place to be! Truly a Seattle Icon. All I gott say is this place is awesome! The food is great, big heafty portions which make great left-overs, great servers and fun environment. The outdoor patio is perfect for summer days, and the inside is clean, family friendly with warm reception. This is the kind of place that you always come back to, when you realize how good the food is, you will definatley be back for more!
Great place!!!. The Saloon is alive and well-perhaps better than ever. I was in last week and enjoyed a fine cocktail and conversation with friends on the patio. The interior has new flat screen tv's and the service was its typical friendly nature. A side note- my wife who rarely drinks, visits the saloon on a regular basis for the food. If you can get a woman and her friends into a saloon for the food you are getting more than a few things right!!!
