What People Are Saying About Coastal Kitchen

The Scene – Restaurateurs Peter Levy and Jeremy Hardy successfully pack 'em in at their neighborhood places; Coastal Kitchen is no exception. Dressed-up worker bees, funky artisans, cool young professionals--all of Capitol Hill's diverse population is well-represented here. – – The Food – The regular fish-oriented menu is supplemented by a separate theme menu, which changes quarterly and draws inspiration from different coastal regions. Be it Brazil, Normandy, Indonesia or Greece, the idea is consistently well-executed. The regular 'blunch' fare includes a wide…
delish!

I've been here twice and loved everything I've tried. I had their french toast w/orange marmalade and it was the best french toast i've had in seattle! They also have great bloody marys and other rum concoctions. I also had their lobster scramble and have tried their salmon scramble - both great. in fact, my friend gets the salmon scramble every time. one time i had good service, the other time i had slow, not-so-great service. Looking forward to going back again.
- Pros: great food and drinks
- Cons: always wait for a table
This tour missed Chile
by hikeswitheyes at Citysearch
We dined at this establishment tonight due to the fact
that it was promoting " A tour of Chile"
The pisco sours were good and my wife had a
Ceviche Mixto (note to menu person at C.K., it's ceviche
not cebiche) that she enjoyed.
I ordered the empanada filled with braised pork.
In Chile you typically have an empanada de horno which
is baked and filled with meat/hard boiled egg/olive and maybe onions, or the empanada de queso, which is filled with cheese and deep-fried.
This item was neither. The pastry tasted like it was semi-cooked cornmeal. Not good.
Ambience was ok and service was the same.
- Pros: Good pisco sours
- Cons: Empanada did not resemble anything I ever had in Chile.
Well-financed restaurant
by Lary999 at Citysearch
I frequently eat lunch here during the week. The BLT and the Coastal Burger deliver large portions of high-quality ingredients. Service during the week is fast and professional. The clientele is well-healed. ...........................................................................................................
Too many restaurants are under-financed family-run holes-in-the-wall. Coastal Kitchen is the relatively rare example of a professionally-run, well-financed restaurant -- large seating capacity (essential to profitability) & managed for the long term. .......................................................................................................
Personally, I avoid the long lines, poor service and chaos of weekend brunches. Also, I avoid the "featured region" menu, because the quantity & recipe are huge unknowns.
- Pros: Professionally run, top-quality ingredients
- Cons: Chaos of weekend brunches
The Details on Coastal Kitchen

Get off 15th Avenue East and look for parking in the residential areas a block to the east or west.
The Extras:
At breakfast, it's worth the minimal extra charge to sub in a huge piece of the cinnamon-laced coffee cake for toast.
What to Drink:
Breakfast brings mimosas and bloody marys; dinner highlights wine according to that month's region.
When to Go:
Weekend brunch is extremely crowded and there is often a long wait. Your best bet for a table is to go early (before 10am) or late (after 1pm).
