Step into the animal-safe world of Cafe Flora, complete with a thriving indoor jungle in a restaurant sanctuary extension. Beyond the vegetarian cuisine concept, the food is creative and delicious, the staff is very accommodating the the cocktails are deceptively dangerous.
Severely Dissapointed. We went for easter breakfast and the service was bad. The place wasn't full and the waittress must have been mentally somewhere else. I ordered the hash and egg breakfast and the hash came quite bland and severely undercooked. I won't be going back. Sad too, since I have heard great things about them. I ended up going hom and eating a banana.
great organic food. Great food!! Organic, healthy, vegetarian, and very tasty. My family members who eat meat enjoy this place as much as myself, a vegetarian. Service is usually good, but the food can be slow. Try the meatless "french dip", made with mushroom.
Wow - service VERY bad..
Wow - the service was so awful, that we ended up complaining to the manager. We had been seated more than 15 minutes before our waiter even came to the table. When we had arrived, the restaurant was only 25% full. We ordered, waited, waited, and finally got our soup and yam fries. 30 minutes later, we asked our waiter about our meals. (Meanwhile other tables had been filled around us, our waiter had taken their orders, and they were eating!) The waiter checked, then said it would be another 10 minutes, as he had held our order so we could enjoy our soup (for 30 minutes?). 15 minutes later, I asked for the manager, stating that by now we had been there for an hour, the tables near us had come in after us, completed their meals and were in the process of leaving, while we were still waiting for our food. In all of this time, our waiter had come to our table only 2 times - once to take our order, and once to deliver our soup. We had empty water glasses (kindly refilled by the hostess after we flagged her down). Even after we asked him about our meal, he never came back to the table.
The manager asked how she could solve the problem. We said that if our food was ready right now, we would take it, but that if it was not ready, we would be leaving. She said she would check. 10 minutes later - yes, 10 more minutes later, she came out with food. At that point, we asked for it to be boxed to take home.
We were only charged for our soup and fries, not for our entrees. I have never experienced such horrible service anywhere. To top it off, the food was not very good.
Just plain awesome. Weather or not your a vegetarian you will love it. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. Try the yam fries... they rock
short menu but really good food - won me over even as a nonvegetarian. I've only been to Cafe Flora once, but I would love to go back for more. Not a huge menu though brunch items looked tantilizing and didnt have anything to drink but food and service were very good. The Oaxaca tacos do have flavor despite being practically just potatoes and they won me over despite my skepticism, as did the curry burger which was excellent. wish they had more options, but even as a nonvegetarian I would still love to go back to cafe flora, though a tad expensive, more often.
One of my favorites, and I'm not vegetarian. I love this restaurant. I love the food, the atmosphere, the location, the staff. I don't regularly eat at vegetarian restaurants. I just love this food.
where's the flavor?. I've heard Flora is great, but the few times I've been there the food seemed to severely lack flavor. My boyfriend and I didn't even bother trying to finish our bland meals. Who knows perhaps we just ordered the wrong things.
Fresh, delicious food for herbivores and carnivores alike.
Cafe Flora is a beautiful restaurant located in the Madison Park area that serves local vegetarian cuisine. I have only been for breakfast/brunch, so I can't speak for dinner, but I think the food is great.
The fruit is always fresh and the brunch entrees are invariably inventive and delicious. The grits are fantastic. Almost everything on their menu is organic and local, and their tap water is filtered, which gets a big thumbs up from me. I love their fresh-squeezed OJ.
I have to admit that I have been slightly disappointed with the food the last few times I have been to Cafe Flora. We did not receive complimentary orange juice shots and my brunch partner noted that the food looked quite a bit better than it tasted. I, too, noticed that the breakfast breads were on the dry side.
Hooray for High Class Vegetarian!. I am so pleased to find such an elegant and high quality vegetarian restaurant in Seattle. Soups there are always creative and delicous, and I am also endlessly impressed with the variety of entrees. Go for brunch, lunch, or dinner and you will not be disappointed. Vegans are very happy here as well.
Seattle's most glamorous vegetarian restaurant boasts inventive fare that draws even dedicated carnivores..
The Scene
Since 1992, upscale, earthy crowds have been escaping Seattle's gray days in the cheerful atrium dining room, lush with plantings and a natural-stone water fountain. Boisterous families are as likely to visit as romantic couples, with multigenerational celebrations a regular occurrence.
The Food
Reliable standards include spicy Oaxaca tacos and a meatless-but-meaty-tasting portobello Wellington. Because the menu changes weekly and some of the cuisine is quite creative, follow the servers' recommendations. For dessert, even the vegan selections are rich and moist. The popular brunches are served with a complementary shot of fresh orange juice. Don't miss the beignets with berries and ginger creme anglaise or breakfast quesadilla. Service, though often rushed during brunch, tends to settle down for lunch and dinner.
