An urban garden center manages to pack a world of plants, garden accessories and service into one small space.. The Scene
This may be a savvy urban nursery but the atmosphere is casual as neighborhood gardeners and stylish, urbanites browse among the plants. Employees are real dirt-under-the-fingernails gardeners who enjoy sharing their knowledge.

The Goods
The store buys small amounts from small growers, ensuring many atypical and unusual varieties of plants--including tropical specialties such as cannas, hardy gingers and bananas, carnivorous plants, showy orchids, water plants and all the pots you need to put them in. City People's also carries carefully selected home furnishings, cards, candles, hats, furniture and the basics in the hardware department.

More than beautiful flowers. I love this quaint nursery found in Seattle's Madison Park neighborhood. Its selection matched what you can find in any of the larger nurseries around the Seattle area, but without being overdone. It had a cute gift shop and many healthy plants, but what I most liked was its selection of garden art. Its staff was very helpful and not at all pushy. It reminded me of the nursery my mother used to take me to when I was a little girl growing up in Seattle. That nursery unfortunately no longer exists because it was replaced by a housing development so it was a pleasure for me to find a nursery that caters to us as neighbors and not just customers.
