Editorial Review for Salisbury House – by Jeff Zeunert
The Scene
This Prairie-Style Salisbury House has occupied a quiet, tree-lined corner near Volunteer Park since 1904. In earlier years, it housed some powerful Capitol Hill families; today, the refined atmosphere lingers. Guests enjoy breakfasts of quiche, pancakes or fresh muffins and fruit. In the evening, they retire to one of the five quiet rooms with private baths and antique and mission-style furnishings. Beds with down comforters, data ports and voicemail are standard in all rooms. The library's fireplace is an inviting asset, as are the indispensable guidebooks on the shelves.
The Details
The suite is not so sweet. Located in the basement, it lacks some of the charm of the upstairs rooms. However, if you require a television (other rooms don't have them) and 6-foot whirlpool tub, this is the room for you.
