One of the best hamburgers in Seattle? I don't think so. Citysearch readers rated the hamburgers here as no. 10 on the Best of Seattle list. Wow! What were you thinking? Maybe Wedgwood employees write a lot of reviews?

Having read the reviews on Citysearch, and seeing the high ratings for the hamburger, my wife and I decided to go there last Friday night (3/14). At first it appears as the reviews have stated; kind of a throw-back to the place your grandparents used to like. Complete with some older staff and an older decor, like an older steakhouse.

The service was deathly slow, but we had read that too. The salad was as advertised; covered with Cheese Nips which actually wasn't too bad. We both ordered drinks and they were strong and well prepared.

The hamburger, on the other hand, was made of quality beef and the buns were toasted, That was the extent of their positive attributes. The patties were overcooked (even crispy on the edges) and doused with some god-awful seasoning that was probably loaded with MSG and offset the BBQ grilling flavor so that they tasted like charcoal lighter fluid. We both had indigestion for the rest of the evening as a momento of our experience. We did order our fries overcooked and, of course they were overcooked, imagine that.

The waitress was inattentive and oblivious to what was going on and who was trying to flag her down. She didn't come back and ask us if the food was good she only came back when we were done and gave us the bill. No where on the bill were instructions as to how to pay it. There is usually something like 'please pay your server' or 'please pay at the cashier' and of course my multiple attempts to flag down our waitress were unsuccessful. So we found the cashier and paid the bill and there was no positive dialogue at all. No 'how was your meal' or 'thanks, please come back' nothing and nothing will ever bring us back.

They had all the tact of a AM/PM clerk and, surprisingly enough, the hamburgers were like the ones at AM/PM with that phony BBQ taste.

Excellent. When I lived in Seattle I ate at the Wedgwood Broiler almost daily. The food is always excellent. The Monday Night London Broil special is the best. However, They serve London Broil every day. Most of the waitresses have been at the Wedgwood Broiler for more than five years and the service is always excellent. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Nice Staff!!!. I work in lawn care and travel all over Seattle, we came to this place for lunch on a Monday and they had a Mexican food special, i had the enchilada's and they were great coming from a steak house type of place, i gotta say it's A+ good! staff was fast about getting our food, and you get to see the cook's prepare your meal which i thought was really cool. we had no complaint's!

Where your grandparents used to take the family for a fancy Sunday dinner. I didn't really know what to expect when we went to the Wedgwood Broiler. I thought it might be like The 13 coins restaurant, which is cool in a kitschy kind of way. However, it turns out that the Wedgwood Broiler is NOT a place for a big crowd of 20-somethings looking for a retro night. This place is for families with kids and for older folks looking to a 'nice' meal out.

You walk in the "In" door and this place takes you back to a different time. Dark wood walls, tall booths with coffee cups already on the table and food being kept warm under orange, glowing lights. The waitresses, who have all been there for 20+ years, look like your 3rd grade best friend's mom and they are warm and welcoming.

The food is rather bland, but I have to say, I grinned when our house salads came out -- served with baco-bits and cheez-its. We ordered a quesadilla & mini corn dogs for the kids and we each had a French Dip. Very plain, just the way the grandparents would have liked it.

No, the food is not world class, but our service was great and it felt kind of comforting to step back in time a bit. As we walked out the "Out" door, our kids were happy and my husband and I both had a smile on our face.

best customer service and great sunday nights. it feels like you are at home when eating there. all the serves make you feel like you have been friends forever. the food is like home cooking. it like you mom or dad did the cooking for you. thursdays and sunday nights in the bar are the best days to come in on. thursdays you can get tacos for two dollars or a huge taco salad for eight. sunday nights at 9:30pm its trivia. its free and you can win prizes. its a great thing.

Are you kidding me?. I recently ate at the Wedgewood Broiler and I'm not impressed at all. It's pretty apparent to me that all these good reviews written about it are probably written by the owners or someone who works there. I had a burger and it was served cold. I also got one of their supposedly good Bloody Marys and it was basically tomato juice with a little vodka in it. It took a long time for the food to come out as well. The place is basically a half step above Denny's only more expensive. The wait staff was friendly so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Tastiest Burgers Ever!. A friend and I went to the Wedgewood Broiler primarily based on the high ratings here on Citysearch, and they are totally right. The establishment definately had that small-town, on the side of the road diner feel, in a big city. We were seated promptly, the staff was very courteous, making sure that our tea and soda were always suffiently filled.

But the burgers, oh my golly, the burgers. Quite possibly the best burger my taste buds ever feasted upon. Each taste was like a party in the mouth -- it was that tasty. Very delicious and flavorful. I could go on and on, but you must go there yourselves and you too will be as pleased as we were.

Great American food. My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood and with all the moving, cleaning and painting, we didn't have time to shop or cook. We had read about the Wedgwood Broiler on CitySearch and thought we'd give it a try. We ate there 4 times in a week! Good, homey food at great prices. We enjoyed the turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy; the french dip sandwich, the excellent baked potatoes and the old school dinner salads with real bacon bits and Cheez-its on top! Also, the apple pie and mud pie are delish. We're glad we live only 5 minutes away. We'll be back.

The diner that time forgot has been serving up square meals to neighborhood regulars since 1965.. The Scene
This so-old-it's-retro hash house is the perfect antidote to a bad weekend, the kind of spot where prime rib is the weekend special, waitresses call customers "hon" without any trace of irony and the most exotic thing on the menu is the teriyaki marinade on the broiled chicken breast. An assorted crew of aging regulars and neighborhood denizens fill the smoky glassed, wood-slatted dining room and the fantastically noir dark-wood paneled cocktail lounge.

The Food
Think expertly prepared comfort food, circa 1958. Salads come heavy on the dressing and garnished with Cheez-Its. The house-ground hamburger dip, with its dark, complex au jus, should not be missed for love or money. Chef's dinners, including liver and onions and London broil, are delivered with a side of mushy green beans and potato of choice, either baked, mashed, hash browns or fries. Dessert is--what else?-- a hot fudge sundae topped with a cherry.

It just keeps getting better!!. You never know when one of your favorite places will suprise you. Recently I was looking for a new place to have breakfast on the weekend and my waitress said "well you know we have breakfast here on weekends don't you?" No I didn't but what do you know, this place never lets me down - one of the best kept secrets in town and a lot less expensive.
