Still haven't adressed poor food quality.
It has been three years since I have last set foot inside of Salvatore. Some friends of mine still love this place and invited us out to join them for dinner. We should have stayed home. A place as good as Salvatore used to be should pay attention to their shrinking customer base. Pushy, arrogant service as well as poorly prepared food result in bad customer experience. I won't come back. I was really trying to love this place again. I hope Salvatore can re-establish what he once had in the early 90's.
Which was a great restaurant that was always consistent. Good luck
Wonderful!. I have been a customer for 10 years and never leave disappointed. I have traveled to small towns in Italy, and Salvatore's food is definitely true Italian. The servers are always friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Salvatores has changed - not for the better. We recently went to Salvatores to celebrate my birthday. I was very excited. We had been regulars and I knew just which delightful dishes I was going to get and looked forward to the great relaxed ambiance and the professional wait staff. We entered the restaurant at around 5 pm to the smell of cigarette smoke from one of the staff who was smoking. We were seated adjacent to a speaker loudly playing what I'll kindly call "non-mood enhancing" music. The waiter then told me that Travaglini Gattinara, which I'd ordered many times there before "hadn't been made in 6 years". I think the winery'd be surprised by this. He was pushy and argumentative. It saddens me to see a place I enjoyed so much so many times go down hill like this.
Was once a favorite. After moving to seattle in the early 90's Salvatore was one of the places we would go to treat ourselves. We enjoyed it so much that the price tag was well worth it even on our very limited budget. Went back recently for a birthday dinner and was sadly underwhelmed with pretty much the entire experience. The wait staff was annoying, bordering on obnoxious, the restaurant was freezing cold, and the food that I remembered being excellent was mediocre at best. Overcookd prawns in a puddle of grease and tasteless veal smothered in sauce to hide the fact. All of this along with the privelage of paying premium prices (>$100 for 2 w/ a modest wine). The Montepulciano wine we were reccomended however, was quite nice.
horrible service & mediocre food. My husband & I liked this place up until several mos ago. We gave it a few more tries, but the service became indifferent to rude. When I asked for my salad dressing on the side, the waitress ridiculed me in front of other customers & told me that the kitchen would refuse this request. However, the vegan customers next to us apparently had no problems with their special requests. We tip well, & are easy going folks. It was just the worst experience... enough for me to come here & write about it.
Still Fantastico!.
On my last visit to Salvatore's my girlfriend and I shared a fresh tomato and imported buffalo mozzarella antipasto that was to die for. It was beefy slices of fresh tomato drizzled with an aged balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and sprinkled with fresh cracked black pepper and bright intense basil leaves.
My entree was a classic milanese dish of Osso Bucco; a slowly braised veal shank served over a bowl of crisp intensely green peas. yum, tender.
My girlfriend had medallions/tournedos of beef tenderloin served with a side of pasta in a creamy sauce. It did not stand the hairs up on the back of my neck like the osso bucco did, but was still on par with excellent.
Go there. Order the most expensive and luxurious dish on the menu, suck down a glass or two of wine, and just try not to have a good time.
My FAVORITE for years!!. Salvatore has been my favorite place to go for years. The specials are always amazing, I rarely order from the regular menu. The veal in particular is to die for. I have been greeted by many of the same friendly and knowledgable waitstaff for almost 10 years now. If you want to miss the weekend crowd, go on a Wednesday, the only day Salvatore himself is in the kitchen. On all other days though he will happily greet you at the door and promptly offer you wine while you wait! Love this place like it's my home away from home!
Best Puttanesca!. Go for the pastas! They make the best puttanesca I've ever had, worth every penny. The servers are always personable and the food is always delivered hot and prompt. Skip the desserts and pizzas, small portions, bland and over priced.
Cute Restaurant. The place is cute but we sent an entree' back and they didn't take it of th bill. That was disappointing, we have a hard time paying for food that we couldn't eat because it wasn'y well prepared.
