What People Are Saying About Tacos Guaymas

In Short – Since most of the staff in this sunny taqueria speaks little English, any español at all will help when ordering. Meats--including cabeza (beef cheeks), slow-cooked carnitas (pork) and lengua (tongue)--are marinated in chili-infused sauces. The menu is long, offering everything from flautas to whole fried fish. The tacos are two grilled corn tortillas, filled with fish, meats or veggies and topped with homemade pico de gallo and fresh salsa.

What to Drink:
There's the sweet, fruity agua frescas, or the rice milk and cinnamon combination known as horchata.

Consistently Solid

by Tical22 at Citysearch

I'm originally from California and I consider myself schooled in the ways of Mexican food. When in Seattle, I make sure that I eat here. There is a down-homeyness that I appreciate about this place and the food reminds me of being in Rosarito or Ensenada. The staff is always amazing and the food, while not a 10, is consistently an 8+.

Not sure where all these other people went, but Tacos Guaymas' East Green Lake location is always solid, predictable and satisfying.

Happy hour is okay, service could improve

by chubbybunnyone at Citysearch

I went here on a slow Friday with a couple friends for happy hour and the happy hour food and drink were decently priced. The food was good, but the service was slow and lacking, especially since we there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant.

most mediocre happy hour/ margaritas in town

by robertsc at Citysearch

"Don't you just hate it when a place has a great location and decides to just... not try?" my friend asked me half way into our margaritas. Yes, we were sitting outside and watching people, dogs and bikes make the Greenlake tour, but she had an incredible point. The lackluster (eg slow and discombobulated) service was perfectly paired with the weak and flavorless drinks. Needless to say, none of us were shocked when our server announced that she had mistakenly charged us happy hour prices because *happy hour prices do not apply when you are SITTING OUTSIDE!*- To her credit, she left the happy hour discount on our first round of drinks. Yup. If it weren't for their real estate, this place might have to try.

  • Pros: view, people/dog watching watching
  • Cons: drinks, happy hour, stale chips, service

SLOW service

by furayar at Citysearch

We walked around Green Lake and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. Tacos Guaymas looked busy but we were seated immediately. We got a basket of chips, no salsa, no water....and ate them slowly. Eventually, we were given a really hot salsa and ONE glass of water (for two of us). We asked the bus boy to send our waiter and he said that the waiter was wearing a black shirt. We flagged down the guy who was serving everyone else out on the patio in a black shirt and he said - uh...let me get your waiter. After about 30 minutes of waiting and no further attention from any staff, we left some money and left the restaurant. This is the first time either of us has ever eaten the complimentary chips and salsa and bailed before ordering. This experience was just unacceptable.

  • Pros: Seemed reasonably priced, neat salsa bar
  • Cons: Horrible service; salsas at bar not marked for heat!
