Not surprized - Out of Business. Wished I knew of this site to publicly whine about this outfit when this happened... about 2 years ago.

They seemed nice enough.

And troubleshot to the failed component.

But instead of replacing with the correct voltage regulator (which I ended up easily getting from McIntosh) they jerry-rigged a small under-rated regulator TO-22 type where it should have had the much larger TO-3 can type.... so of course soon failed.

I have pictures....

Now what really fries me, was they told me they were waiting for the factory part (why it took so long) and charged for the factory part.

As an electronic tech (not audio), was hoping to farm out some personal chores as I'm busy. Apparently we just gotta do everything ourselves to keep from getting screwed.

~ sigh

OUT OF BUSINESS!!! After years good service... they're gone.... I'm sad to see this company go away. They've fixed at least 2-3 pieces for me every year for the past 10 years. I took a pair of speakers and an amp in for repair last week and the doors were chained! I found AVL Professional in Seattle through Citysearch and they seemed to have good reviews. I took my items in and Zak over there fixed it in 3 days! Looks like I have new repair shop...

Precision Audio and Video out of business. I dropped off my stereo for repairs and a month later they went out of business. They sold my stereo to an auction clearing house and I am left without my stereo. They are out of business...so you won't be taken to the bank and ripped off like I was. I hope the owner of Precision Audio and Video reads this.. because you are a low life. Your have no morals or spine. I am glad your business folded.

Couldn't have been treated better :). I brought an amp into PAV for repair, and also found out they sell and install flat panel TV's as well. I took them up on both the repair and the installation, and could not have been happier. It took awhile to get parts for my old unit, but given that it was 20 years old I don't think anybody could have done it better. The installation was flawless, the set work fine, they trained me on how to use it. Any time I have an audio or video need in the future, I will use them for certain.

It's really hard to find companies which care in today's world, but this one does.

Very slow, overpriced. I have used Precision in the past when I was not able to shop around and a retailer told me they were good. Looking back I know I grossly overpaid and waited far too long for the repairs to be done. This time I had a $600 (4 years ago) Denon home theater receiver short out. They quoted me a range of $225-275 and a turnaround time of 3-6 weeks! I almost left it there but instead shopped around at 3 other repair shops and ended up getting the repair done for a little over $100 in less than 3 days at a nearby shop. Unless you have audiophile-level gear or money and time are no object, I am not sure why anyone continues to use their repair service for consumer-grade equipment, except that you don't know where else to go...

Wonderful service and wonderful people. It's very difficult to find people who offer audio and video repair services, but Precision not only offers them but excels at them. They were very courteous when I brought my receiver in. They provided the service on time and under the original quote. They called to discuss the estimate with me, and they called as soon as the repair was done. I could not have been happier with them. If only auto mechanics were this good!!

AVOID - Lacks professionalism - Quote horribly inaccurate. I recently had a standard tube television brought in due to no picture. TV is a few years old, decided to get it repaired instead of it ending in a dump. I was quoted that the repair would take between 1-3 weeks, and the cost would be approx. $300. After all was said and done, it took them over 8 weeks to fix the TV (they had my TV for over 400 business hours), and even with the grossly inaccurate completion date, charged me more than the quoted approx. cost. Looking at the parts cost, I figured they spent approx. 2 - 2-1/2 hours of labor on my TV.

They never called me except to inform me the job was complete. Zero calls regarding delays, verification of problem, manufacturer sent the incorrect part. When I called for an update (2-3 times for the duration of the repair), I felt as if I was asking for a huge favor.. sighs and loss of composure from them over the phone, I imagine this one guy must lose it when he's walking down the street and realizes his shoe is untied. Really appreciated being put on an old speaker phone so I'm hearing myself talk.

Like others have said.. arrogant/condescending over the phone, zero communication, completely off-base quote, no credit offering after being over 5 weeks late on job, zero apologies. If they merely kept me informed, I would be satisfied with this repair as the TV does work.

They've had atleast 5 calls into the better B.B. for bad service in the late 36 months, very high. They have 4 five-star reviews here, all within a week of each other, by accounts with only one review given, highly plausible they were made by an employee. An accurate reading could show approx. 2 stars. With any issues that can be fixed immediately and with ease, I'm sure you'll have great service. If anything is out of the ordinary (a repair shop! gonna happen a bunch!) you're definitely asking for a lot of frustration.

I couldn't offer more advice to avoid like the plague, I'm surprised they're still open.

Great Repairs, Great Prices. I brought in a 30-year-old receiver with some very serious problems. Not only were they able to diagnose the problem and get it back in perfect working order, but they did it in about a week and came in under budget. They probably can't be beaten in terms of service and friendliness. I'll be back anytime I need audio or video repairs or installation.

never accepted fault. These guys were supposed to fix the sticky tray door on my DVD player and they said it would be fixed within 2-4 weeks. Mind you, the DVD player worked; it's just that the tray door got stuck three times and then it would open. Nothng major. After a month without hearing from them, I called them and they told me they were waiting for a part to be delivered (didn't tell me what part it was). After the second month they told me that they are still waiting for the part and that they'll call me when it comes in. By the third month, I have to call them again only to have them tell me that somehow a loose screw blew a fuse in the player which the manufacturer doesn't make anymore and the reason it took so long is because they were searching for a manufacturer that makes this type of fuse. Well, it seemed like they were never going to fix the problem, so I went to their store and asked them to compensate me for my broken DVD player. They told me that it's not their fault the player was broken but the SCREW'S fault. They claimed that they never opened the player and that when they picked up the player this mysterious screw wiped out the fuse, thus incapicitating the player. I pushed them on this excuse and they wouldn't budge; they stuck with the argument that a human hand was not involved in damaging my DVD player. It was simply gravity. I'll never go to this repair shop again.

Terrible Service - AVOID. Dropped off Plasma TV for repair on August 26th and paid the non-refundable $136 to look at the problem. After 3 weeks of not hearing back I called them daily with, " we will get back to you tomorrow". I never received a proactive call with an update. I was always caling them. Finally on September 25 (1 Month) they said they had it fixed. Picked it up, plugged it in and NOTHING. No picture - same issue as when I dropped it off. Called them up, dropped it off again on the same day and then in Mid October picked it up again without any resolution. They COULD NOT fix the problem I was out $320 (they did credit me $160) but I spent 2 months and still NO TV. Painful experience. AVOID.
