Great Neighborhood Bar. the Top 5 reasons that I LOVE the Maharaja Cuisine of India:

5. The Lunch Buffet is $9. Although it isn't as good as the actual dinners, I can come for lunch, work on the free WiFi and chat with my favorite bartenders all at once! What a great place to come for a work lunch!

4. The cast of regulars. The Maha is like a uber-dysfunctional version of Cheers. The look of the bar may have changed, but the patrons have not. You never know what to expect as the night progresses.

3. The happy hour. From 4-7 ad 10-1, there are drink and menu specials. The happy hour menu is a spectacular deal.

2. The stiff drinks. Enough said.

1. The bartenders, Bogie and Courtney. I have never seen bartenders take such pride in their work. If the Maha and it's bartenders had a mission statement, it would probably be, 'The Maha Lounge is a drinking establishment with the goal to create a comfortable atmosphere in which patrons can happily take part in extensive drinking, dancing, singing, and bullsh*tting." P.S. Bogie's drink concoctions are tasty -so just ask him to surprise you!

What a fun place for Indian food!. Everytime I go to this place, the service is incredible. I turn around and the server is there asking if I need anything & making jokes with me. I go get another plate at the buffet and when I come back, my old plate is always gone.

I love the bar area! Super snazzy!!!

Really recommend the mango lassie's. yum! The food is great and I come here with a Indian friend who recommends the place highly (and she ought to know what's good)

terrible. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. It was terrible!

A large group of us came and sat in the bar area. Now I have to set the scene here, the place was pretty much dead. It's sports bar-ish, but the bartender wasn't busy at all. He did come up and ask us for our drinks. Gets us our drinks, but rather than even attempting to hand them out, just dumps them on the far end of the table and walks away.

More people joined our group, and we're talking for about 15 minutes or so. The whole time the bartender looked like he was pretending to be busy by writing in his notepad. Eventually, enough of the group gets there and we decide to start ordering. What a fiasco. Forever to take the orders, then the orders are messed up, rather than setting the dishes on the table in front of us, they hand us the steaming hot plates or just set them on the side of the table. It took like 15 minutes for the bartender to make a Mai Thai. No smiles, no caring, nothing. It's like we weren't welcome.

Now I don't care too much about service, IF the food is impeccable. Blech, whoever wrote "best Indian food I've ever eaten", must've been eating frozen Masala dinners from Safeway or something. I got the vegetable korma, and I could tell that it was literally tomato soup with frozen vegetable mix and a few spices thrown in. The saag was okay, but slightly over-salted, nothing to write home about.

I've made better homemade Indian food in my kitchen, and I'm a novice. I've had better dinner delivery, and that's when the food is cold by the time it got to me.

by the end, the bartender perked up, but a few of us had a sneaking suspicion that it was because it was time to give a tip. Let's just say he probably didn't get as much as he expected.

Don't bother. Average indian food, prices just went up because of the remodel in the bar which still isn't that nice, bar and restaurant are very noisy, we were in the restaurant and couldn't help but peak inside the bar to see who was being so loud yelling through the walls. the service was the worst part of it especially if you choose to eat in the lounge, it took forever. If you're not specifically looking for indian food, but rather just something nice at the junction don't bother with this place, go to Jak's next door or Matador two doors down for a better, cleaner atmosphere and dining.

By far the best Indian food around. I eat out at least twice a day at a variety of places, and I have experienced Indian food at a lot of places. Maharaja is by far the best Indian food I've had and the service was awesome. I always leave there very satisfied and would recommend this place to anyone.

No idea why this place is in business.. I ordered Dal Mahakani and it was surprisingly greasy. I've had this dish at other restaurants and Maharaja's was by far the greasiest. Not sure if it had been sitting for a while, but it tasted like it. I was surprised that rice wasn't served along with it, and rice wasn't offered at any time. My partner said his Lamb Biriyani was "flat". My partner tried to get the waitstaff's attention two different times during our visit and the waiters were too busy. The restaurant was busy but not full.

All in all we were disappointed with the quality of food, price, and service. We won't be returning. If you want good food and service for the same price, go to Taste of India in the U District.

Lamb Korma to Die For!. All the sauces are superb, but if you are a korma fan, this place is SNAP! Excellent flavor combined with just the right amount of texture make their korma the best I have ever eaten. Also, all their naans are wonderful, clearly baked on the spot in their tandoori oven (which is less than three years old and was specially built for them in India--I asked).

This place has a very sketchy bar and crazy antiquated bathrooms, step-downs, and a strange/fabulous mix of patrons from families with babies and the local ne'er-do-well to the obviously well-to-do young couples and older patrons--making it a GREAT place for people-watching.

This eatery is short on atmosphere and long on the things that matter: huge portions, wonderful food, kind and fast servers and an enormous menu.

Maharaja : Awesome Completely Remodeled Bar / Lounge, Great Buffet Food, 11 - 2:30 Daily $7.95. The staff is very friendly and polite. Fast service and they always check how everything is. The food is great. Resonable prices. I love the newly remodeled sports bar / lounge area. It was completely remodeled in late November 2008. 6 brand new 42" - 50" Vizio LCD tvs on every wall. There are comfortable booths and chairs / tables. Awesome for the sports fans to just come and relax, watch some sports. Its very clean in every part of the restaurant. Parking can be tricky. There is a free parking lot just behind the store but its sometimes full.

DIRTY LOUNGE. I've been in this joint a few times and the food is great but be warned..... the lounge is NASTY! The seats are torn upholstered with huge holes and foam coming out. most of West Seattle's homely women tend to flock to this place and will not hesitate to jump up on a table and dance!
