Come here for gigantic
I'm-only-eating-once-today portions.
Otherwise, standard Mexican fare - the rice and beans are both completely average, nothing exciting.
The Pollo Chipotle arrived in a creamy, smoky sauce and was quite good with just the right amount of heat at the end. The downside was that some of the chicken had gristle/ligaments still attached so I ended up hunting for the chicken meat and getting grossed out by the gristle to the point that eventually I just pushed my rice into the sauce and ate that instead.
The upside was that the salsa had a great flavor and was spicy but not too much - they found a great balance of flavor and heat.

If you like Mexican, you'll like Puerto Vallarta on Californ.
If you like Mexican, you'll like Puerto Vallarta on California in west Seattle! chips and salsa are the spiciest that i've had in a long while. Service is exceptional, especially if you have your birthday here! They do well handling big groups which is important!
Food is great!

Horrible Service.
The service was horrible, even on a slow afternoon lunch. Waiter was rude. There are other Mexican restaurants much better in West Seattle. Would not Recommend.

True Mexican Food.
I haven't had Mexican food this authentic or GOOD outside of the Mission district in San Francisco. If your idea of Mexican food is Taco Bell & talking chihuahuas, don't go here. However, if your idea of Mexican food is hand made tortillas, fresh horchata, whole beans and authentically prepared cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere with good music, you must go to Puerto Vallarta. It's a wonderful place.

Go elsewhere!.
The food was not very good...it was bland, the margarita was watered down...I would rather have eaten a frozen burritto somewhere...there are a lot of mexican places out there....by-pass this one....

Worth the trip.
When we told our friends in Japan that we were coming to visit Seattle they told us we had to eat here. They were right on! As soon as we came in we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Our waiter was attentive and very courteous as some in our party had trouble reading the Mexican names on the menu. Our party of five had plenty of food with a lot left over for a doggy bag. Every time we come to Seattle we will make a point to eat here! The beer was cold, the food hot, and the peppers were spicy and the service was very friendly!
