Seattle >Sweet Lou's
Unbelieveable Changes!. The staff here are GREAT! I live in the neighborhood and wouldn't step foot in this place a few years ago, but they have completely remodeled and cleaned this place up. It's now my my local bar. The BBQ is really good and really cheap. They also have BINGO and Pub Trivia, which I love. AND THEY HAVE BUCK HUNTER SAFARI!! And they have the coldest beer in town. You should check it out!
New life has been blown into this neighborrhood bar. The floor plan has been remodeled and lots of tables and chairs brought in. They have games like bingo and stuff, taco nights and BBQ. The well drinks are still a bit high for the area but the bartenders are friendly and the owners are good people. Pull tabs are there and they keep board games and have a book corner. The happy hour is a good bargain (try the mini sliders) for both drinks and food and there is an upcoming BBQ sauce contest in late Sept to gear up for with live music being provided. I think they have a facebook site for all the events. Check it out
Not at all the place I remembered. Except the cheap beer.. Has anyone gone in to the Sundown Tavern on 85th and 8th Ave in awhile? Remember the blacked out windows, seedy characters and over-all disgust? Granted they did have the 4$ dollar or so steins then, but when weighing the pros and cons the cons list ran off the page. NOT ANYMORE! I live in the area and had friends in from out of town when as luck would have my car broke down. They wanted to go get some drinks so we had to hoof it. Honestly if it wasn't so cold I probably wouldn't have gone there but as proximity would have it. That's where we ended up. And thankfully so because my local pub is now somewhere I like to go. I don't know if they have new ownership or just pulled their heads out of their butts but this place is a a completely different Sundown. They have hard liquor now, a kitchen with a unique menu compared to any I have seen at any bar in Seattle. Pulled Pork Sandwiches (very good) BBQ ribs, a chicken dinner, a great potato salad a bunch of other things I can't re-call at the moment but most sounded appealing although half were adorned with the bbq sauce and lots of it (it's really good though) but eating ribs at a bar is a bit too messy for me. Not a good look on anyone. No more blackened windows, a younger crowd and much better bartenders, most anyway. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Who knew? Nice Job Sundown.
A down-home Cheers, where everybody knows your name!!.
The owner knows JUST what's needed for his patrons! It's a neigborhood tavern with pool, jukebox and snacks. The configuration of the bar is--like Cheers--where everybody knows your name. The owner will listen to your stories, tell jokes and mimic Scandinavian accents that will make you laugh so hard you'll buy lutefisk. Well......maybe not.
The owner and his partner make each customer feel comfortable and appeciated. Drop on in and tell 'em Bobbie sent you.
It could be your cup of...beer. Lets just say most of their patrons qualify for a senior citizen discount. The bartender was really great (although he asked if we got the right place) and encourage us to quit smoking (I take it he's seen it all). The atmosphere is...well...bar, but I remember when it used to be a laundry mat. If a Rainer and popcorn is what you are craving, this could be the place for you. It never lacks business, so it must have something going for it. Oh and my fav...a jukeboxs full of old country and other rare finds...that was fun!
plastic rules !!.
ok what you say old people and cheap beers.
they need a new tv so bad i m gonna give em mine.
2 pool tables in good shape and service ok.
the juke box is a incredible mix but leans towards
country. this is the 60+ hang out. Dont miss
the largest collection of plastic beer toys in the NW.
