Best food in Seattle. The fish taco are the best also the crab cakes are to die for fun and up beat place

Best Happy Hour anywhere!. Chinook's has the best Happy Hour in this area, bar none. Fabulous oyster shooters (seventy-five sents each!).The mussels are lucious, the salmon tacos kick butt and the New Orleans prawns are awesome. If you like shrimp cocktail they offer a huge one with decent tasting bay shrimp (usually an oxymoron). The razor clams are tasty but the clam strips and popcorn shrimp are boring like anywhere else. One microbrew on the happy hour menu and several bar drinks that I love - Lemon Drop, Cosmopolitan and Strawberry Fisherman's lemonade (with vodka). It's so fun to take friends from out of town there as the huge windows overlook the working fishing boats. The crowd is nice, the service good and the food is great!

Best Brunch. I love Chinook's brunch! You get free scones with your order that are to die for! We went the other day with my sister and her kids and we had the best time. The service was great. Our server was a native southern girl, just like us, and we had a good time chatting with her. The Huevos Rancheros was perfect. The only thing I didn't like was the noise, it was pretty loud in there. But it's great to be able to park out front and get a table so quickly. They also have the best lattes. It is busy on a Sunday, but the scones and coffee are worth the wait.

Great atmosphere, food is good, desserts are delicious!. I went to Chinook's last weekend with my family and we had a very pleasant evening. The atmosphere is great; loud and bustling which is part of the fun as you look out at the fishing boats. The bread they serve is sooooo good! I am a vegetarian and I was happy to see they had two vegetarian dishes; one can't really expect more at a seafood restaurant!

All of us enjoyed our meal and the desserts were terrific and huge! I was not overly impressed with our server; we had to flag her down a few times for things like refills and lemon. She was polite but not personable; she didn't really seem to be enjoying her job. Waiting tables is hard but the way you make the big tips is to make a positive impression on your table! That was the only minor downside of the evening; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Great all around!. We had a wonderful experience eating dinner here recently. The food was excellent, the waiter (Joe) was top notch and it is so kid friendly!! Highly recommend it.

Delicious!. A colleague of my husband's brought him here, and he couldn't wait to bring me. We loaded up our three small children and headed over. Before we even went inside, the children loved looking at the fishing boats moored outside, and we paid our respects at the fisherman's memorial.

Inside, the atmosphere was great. It's a really nice restaurant, but child-friendly as well. They had the high chair, children's menus, and crayons all at the table before we were led over, so we didn't have to stand around waiting for the high chair. We went at the height of peach season, and the fresh-squeezed lemonade with fresh peaches was fantastic. The fresh bread they brought to the table was wonderfully addictive. The childrens' fish and chips were the best we've found since coming over from England. The Dungeness Crab Cakes seemed to be pure crab with no fillers. I don't know how they held together, but they were great! The plank salmon was delicious, and one of the best my husband (the salmon eater of the family) has ever had. The Peach Slump (similar to a cobbler) was delicious, but I have to echo djshrew's rave review of the bread pudding. My husband and I had agreed to share the two desserts, but I didn't want to give up the second half of the bread pudding! (He insisted, though.) This was the best bread pudding I have ever had in a restaurant, and I daresay I like it even as much as mine. I'd come back here for the bread pudding alone! Ladies, note the picture hanging on the door just inside the ladies' room. It had me giggling the whole time I was in there changing my toddler's diaper!

Give out-of-towners a taste of the Northwest at this large-scale seafood restaurant at the Fisherman's Terminal.. The Scene
Nestled between Magnolia and Queen Anne, this Salmon Bay fish house offers brilliant maritime views of the large Fisherman's Terminal fleet. A casual local crowd comes here for everything from first dates to 50th birthday celebrations, and it's a well-known spot to bring out-of-towners for a true Seattle experience. In the warmer months the sizeable patio catches lovely ocean breezes, but the cavernous, lively dinng room with its wall of floor-to-ceiling windows is a fine alternative.

The Food
Chinook's offers dependable, affordable seafood standards without much ado. The menu's fresh sheet varies by the day's catch, but visitors can expect Northwest classics like Alder-planked salmon, beer-battered halibut and chips, and Dungeness crab cakes. Seasonal accompaniments (corn on the cob in the summer, squash in the winter) are decent, but emphasis is really on the fish. Dessert brings a sweet blackberry cobbler with a dollop of locally produced Olympic Mountain ice cream.

They can't be this bad...can they?. Service was quick and with a smile. The wines by the glass were OK and affordable. I ordered the Sockeye cooked on Alderwood plank. It was so overcooked it was tough to eat...I actually had to use a knife a couple of times. The plank was likely more tender. I eat a lot of Salmon. This was like (slightly) re-hydrated jerky. I'm not kidding. I am also suspicious that it was Sockeye. All the Sockeye I've had has been deep reddish with thin graining. This was peachy pink with thick graining. Not only was it overdone, but thin as a shoe sole...and cost 22 + tax. The broccoli was boiled a bit too long, but edible. The potato onion glop is just greasy and nasty. It can't be this bad all the time?!?! I will try it again to make sure. Why didn't I send it back? I'm a wuss.

Our Favorite Place to Eat. We live in Portland and visit several times a year. Even if we are passing through from Canada we will swing West just to eat at Chinooks. We've never been disappointed in anything we've gotten. Their planked salmon beats everyone else in the city. And their Key Lime pie is to die for, made fresh on the premise with very lightly sweetened fresh whipped cream. The atmosphere and the view is like eating at a sailors diner. Just love it.

Two words.... Bread pudding!!! But, if you are there for more than dessert there are many delicious options. I've been going to Chinooks for over 15 years and I love to show my friends what a great place it is. The seafood is great and the breakfast is wonderful as well...fresh baked scones for all. They rival the delicious foccacia that is served in the evenings.
