What People Are Saying About Sitting Room

The Scene – Intimate tables and a well-worn sofa and chairs blur the lines between cafe and living room at this eminently comfortable Queen Anne bar. Gently glowing lamps cast shadows across the burgundy cement floors and golden walls. Regulars drink wine and eat snacks at the zinc-top bar, or settle in with friends at tables for signature cocktails and affordable dinner plates. The front window, an old garage door, is thrown open on sunny days--enjoy the breeze and pretend you're in Paris. – – The Draw – European cocktails kickstart the menu, including versions made…

Cozy neighbourhood bar

Cozy, continental atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and drink! Having immensely enjoyed over a dozen convivial evenings at The Sitting Room over the past 3 years, we have only praise for this bar. The Happy Hour is a great value and the food and drink is of excellent quality. The Stella is cold and fresh. and we are always greeted warmly by the friendly bartender and the owner. If only we had such a place in our neighbourhood in Vancouver, BC!
- Pros: Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere
- Cons: It's not in our neighbourhood!
Beautiful, quiet and romantic

I have been going to The Sitting Room for about a year now and it is still one of my favorite bars in Seattle. The name is exactly what you should expect here: A place to sit, chat, relax and enjoy the company of those around you...
The food is always amazing and while it may be a little more expensive than the sliders and endless tots you're used to what you get is infinitely more pleasurable.
The employees have all been there as long as I have been going there which really says something about a place. The owner is an amazing, friendly man and is there every day when the bar opens. The employees are all extremely friendly, outgoing and easy-going which is exactly what I look for in a place that is supposed to be about good food, good drinks and good company to enjoy it all with.
I'll keep coming here.
A great place, usually

I've been going to the Sitting Room for about 8 months, since I moved from the U-dist. to Queen Anne. I always found the place to be charming, with great drinks and eats. Great servers and bartenders-most who have been there for years. I was there last night-it was a sat. and I witnessed some of the trashiest behavior I have ever seen. A group of people celebrating a party took up half the room and kept trying to order coors light, vodka red-bull, sliders and french fries. The Sitting Room is NOT that kind of place. White trash orders aside, they were pushy, rude and insulting to their waitress who has served me many times and I found to be sweet and very helpful with the foood and drink specials. This poor girl-(sorry server, I can't recall your name but you have red hair and always wear great heels), went through this abuse all night and I can only hope they tipped her enough to have put up with it-though from what I could tell they were too busy disputing the cost of their tabs to get out of paying that they were probably bad tippers as well. We witnessed them take their shoes off and walk around barefoot, sit on the floor, and lick frosting off cupcakes they had brought in and then throw the wrappers and half eaten cakes on the floor! Where are these people from?!? Certainly, not Seattlites. What self respecting Seattle inhabitant would try to order chicken strips and a coors light at a wine bar? Long story short: I hope the next time I'm in the ambiance isn't ruined by WT girls and jack a$$ guys and my friend and I can enjoy our wine and cheese board without the circus.
- Pros: great food, lovley drinks, excelent service
- Cons: when people "trash" the place.
Charming place in Lower Queen Anne
by cloudydawn at Citysearch
While visiting friends in Seattle last month (I'm from Berkeley, CA) they invited me out to The Sitting Room in lower Queen Anne. We enjoyed the festive atmosphere and delicious appetizers so much on Saturday night we decided to go back again on Monday. This was such a great little place I thought I should help spread the word.
On Saturday, the first thing I noticed was the charming owner, who greeted us at the door and promptly found us a clean table in front. The place was beginning to fill up but his friendly manor seemed to foretell the kind of evening we were to have. Our handsome young waiter patiently answered our questions on the unique small plates menu and he soon filled our table with cocktails (I loved the gin drink with fresh thyme) and tasty dishes that more than satisfied (chorizo with blue cheese & dates, cold-smoked wild salmon, and pate made with free-range nitrate-free pork). The other patrons were obviously having a great time too so the infectious spirit carried us through several more rounds of drinks.
On Monday we were in the mood for a quieter place to have a glass of wine and something to eat and The Sitting Room proved to be that too. Another friendly waitperson (Kelly?) filled our table with a sampling of more delicious small plates (loved the olive selection and the chicken panini with organic greens) that served as our leisurely dinner. I must say that the house red wine was highly drinkable but someone has put some thought into the wine selection as we did some serious tasting. I admit that I was surprised how much I liked the red from Washington state.
I look forward to my next visit to Seattle (this summer) so I can take advantage of the outside seating and enjoy another glass of French wine at a truly unique establishment in one of Seatle's great neighborhoods.
- Pros: Inexpensive, but totally delicious food and wine, open on Monday.
- Cons: The "couch" was not that comfortable.
Great Place for an Intimate Party
by Emmarie at Citysearch
I was hosting a birthday party for one of my girlfriends and The Sitting Room was GREAT!! I had first made the reservation for 15, but had to later change it to accommodate 20, and the staff was wonderful about it. When we got there, we had a whole area to ourselves, including a comfy couch and two armchairs. The waitstaff was phenomenally attentive (remembering everyones' names, even) and replaced our drinks and food as quickly as we could finish them. Specifically, I believe our waiter was named George (tall with glasses) and he was the best waiter I have ever had...and I've dined a lot in Seattle proper! As far as the food, it was all very delicious. The menu on the website is pretty modest, but there were several tasty choices once we got there. The caprese salad was one of the best I've had in Seattle and the bruschetta (ingredients change by the week) was to DIE for. I even had a cake that the waitstaff held in the kitchen until we were ready to unveil it. When it was time, they lit the candles and brought out plenty of plates and cutlery for all. Overall, the night was a HUGE success! There was plenty of room and a down-tempo ambiance perfect for the group of people I was entertaining. Thank you, Sitting Room for a great party!!
- Pros: Excellent service, great food, very chill ambiance.
- Cons: Little Pricey (but you pay for what you get), can get crowded on a Saturday night, parking is kinda tricky but there is a paylot right across the street from the bar.
