A spot where high design and traditional art have played nicely together for more than two decades..
The Scene
Jim Egbert was doing business in Belltown long before it became the land of the pricey condos. He started in the furniture and interiors business in 1953 and opened his Belltown shop in 1977. The pastiche of design savvy furnishings and ethnic art draws customers from around the world. The art takes the edge off the slick design elements, leaving a comfortable but stylish air. High ceilinged alcoves reveal find after find. There's nothing ostentatious or trendy about this place, but there is a whole lot of good stuff inside.
The Goods
Egbert and his staff travel to trade-fairs in Cologne, Copenhagen and Milan and come away with beautiful tables, chairs, couches and home accessories. Customers might also find Indian bedspreads, silk throw pillows and Moroccan rugs. There's African art and 22K yellow gold jewelry from India, too.
