In Short
With a large front window, raised ceiling, upstairs seating and furnishings taken from the old Opera House, this Belltown classic has cleaned up just enough to be approachable. The Jewel Box Theater shows regular films and features cabarets frequently. The bar is usually busy enough to keep things entertaining without making it impossible to find a seat.

I don't even know where to begin. We arrived ~30 minutes early for Tempest Burlesque presents "Sinful Sunday". We figured we would get there a little early to get a drink and get a good seat. Once we tried to get into the theater we were told the doors don't open until 10pm. However their website and flyer posted outside said show starts at 10pm. After having a couple of drinks (grape knee high which wasnt very good and a rum and coke which u really cant mess up) we noticed a few people going into the theater we figured they were letting people in. Nope! Well, at least, not us. At this point we asked what time the show was suppose to start since there was obvious confusion and nobody seemed to know. Eventually, 10pm arrived and we were allowed to go in. Once we got in all the decent seats/booths were taken and we were forced to sit in the very front and in very uncomfortable restaurant/diner seats. So it looks like they were letting all their friends go in and get the seats they wanted first. So there we are sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting. The clock keeps ticking and ticking and ticking. 10:30 rolls around and nothing. We ask again what time is the show starting and again nobody knows. Since we had to sit up front we also sat by the "dancers" entrance and saw a girl walk in and say "I am here". So apparently we were waiting for someone cause she was late. Finally the show starts at 11pm on a Sunday night. What was called a burlesque show should have been called a gay and lesbian variety show. Even then it would have still sucked. We decided to leave at intermission. We didn't have another 2 hours to wait around.

I love the Rendezvous. The atmosphere is sort of 1920's, with high boothes, red walls, dark, swanky, sultry. The food is good too, nothing fancy, but they have good food for a good price. You can get a sandwich with either salad or fries for about $7.00 and they have really good ones like chicken with carmelzied onions and basalmic vinegar, served hot. Vegetarian options too like the portabello sandwich or grilled cheese with tomatoes and carmalized onions. The best time I had at the Rendezvous was my birthday party last year. You can reserve their Velvet Room upstairs for up to 30-40 people for no fee as long as you spend at least $200.00 (which for 30 people is definately not a problem). The Velvet Room is aptly named with lots of big red velvet couches and ottomans, with some tables and candles. Our cocktail waitress was great. Most of the servers are awesome, although I have had bad service from one of the bartenders. Definately recommended for happy hour or private parties in the Velvet Room.
