What People Are Saying About Cascadia

The Scene – With its warmly glowing bar and tranquil waterfall window separating the kitchen and dining room, this Belltown beauty exudes opulence, but with a refreshing absence of upscale pretension. Service is gregarious, yet unobtrusive, making it a proposal-worthy date spot or an ideal choice for high-end celebrations. – – The Food – The moniker refers to Chef Kerry Sear's focus on the lush area between the Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Ocean: All ingredients are drawn exclusively from this region. Tasting or prix-fixe menus are the best route for harnessing…
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- The bar's famous mini sirloin burgers are worth a special trip. Order them plain or with add-ons like blue cheese, black truffle butter or barbecued lobster. Fans can also order them for catered events.
- Outdoor Dining:
- The bar's overflow spills out onto a charming patio on First Avenue.
- Notable Chef:
- Chef Kerry Sear frequently leads tours of the Pike Place Market and teaches cooking classes in the Cascadia kitchen. Call for details and pricing.
- The Extras:
- Private dining is available, with the option of prix-fixe menus or cocktails and appetizers.
- What to Drink:
- Try the icy Alpine martini, with a pine-flavored sorbet "snowball" floating in Absolut Citron.
- Happy Hour:
- The bar features one of city's best happy hours, which includes deeply discounted top-shelf cocktails and $2.50 mini-burgers. Get there right at 5pm to snag a spot.
Somewhat dissapointed

This restaurant had a lot of hype and we were excited to go. We were seated promptly and the service was fine, but unfortunately one of the meals was cold. The waiter took back the meal, brought a fresh hot one and comped the meal. Everything else was lovely
- Pros: Good Food and service
- Cons: one of the meal was cold
Bad front desk!
by oenomelej at Citysearch
Hello- I've eaten in the bar here several times- the food is good but the whole set up is weird-A couple of Fridays ago we were stopped as we entered- I've never been to a place where you are stopped from going into the bar and had to sign in on a wait list!- the girl at the front desk was very stiff and seemed very inexperienced and made no effort to ease the situation verbally (perhaps she just has had enough of the bad set up)...then there is the fact the dinning room is often empty but you can't sit there unless you are ordering dinner...
Cascadia has struggled over the years to find a niche, the food has always been interesting and evolving so it is not the chef or food- I'd say a bigger bar and investing in the front of the house staff would be a good investment!
By the way....
After waiting ten minutes we left and went to Tavolta around the corner and were welcomed right away.
Good for kids, adults less so

We went to Cascadia on a vacation in Seattle. Good food and kids welcome (my son is 5). His meal was great, three courses with a fantastic dessert involving cotton candy and a chocolate Space Needle. If I could order off the kids menu I would have been happier. My wife and I each had a variation of their seasonal 3 course meal with wine pairings. First, at $25 for 3 paired wines, the half glasses were very disappointing. The wines were good, but over $8 a half glass of Reisling is not acceptable. The food sounded good, but was somewhat bland and uninspired. For my entree I had hamachi tuna paired with a pureed eggplant with miso. The eggplant "sauce" completely overwhelmed the tuna and was terrible by itself. The appetizer and dessert were fair. Service was excellent but the execution was just off. I had seen in the Sea-Times that Chef Sear was looking to sell the restaurant, probably about time.
- Pros: kids menu, service
- Cons: adults menu
Just don't waste your time...please I compel you...we gave it a second try...dont

Just plain bad food, and bad experience. We eat out alot, I mean alot, all over the country and abroad. Tried Cascadia a few years ago and hated it. We decided to give it a go again. If it has been around this long we must have just gone on a bad night. Wrong. Service from door to dessert (although desert was good, but pretty hard to mess that up) was bad, and food even worse. Although I wouldn't have thought the service so bad, if the food wasn't even worse. We will never go again, and compel others not waste their money. It's not super expensive....but still not worth it.
- Pros: decor
- Cons: everything else
Bad Waiter Poor Food
by ReviewerRestaurant at Citysearch
We have recently been to Cascadia twice in the past few months. The waiter was hostile to us on first occasion and the food cold and tasteless with the exception of dessert, which was very good.
We again tried Cascadia and found the same waiter to be downright cold and irritated to have to be waiting on us. Almost as if we were taking up his time. All our party commented on this after the dinner. The food was very mediocre, not to mention it was stone cold. We also felt rushed throughout our meal.
Cascadia is definitely resting on its laurels. It has been an outstanding restaurant in the past, but perhaps now they cater to the cruise tourists, 20 somethings buying drinks and children? Who knows, but it is not worth the money for cold tasteless food or the 2 hours of being rudely mistreated by a hostile waiter.
- Pros: Good location. Once was a good restaurant
- Cons: Very rude staff. Cold food.
