In Short – Opened in October 1996 by David Woods, prices for sale wines are usually quite good, matching or beating other well-known stores in the city. A true gem of the place may be its Thursday night wine tastings from 5pm to 7 pm. Purchase a tasting glass for $10 to partake in the offerings, typically four good selections in a theme (Italian wines, syrahs or chardonnays). Then, each week bring back the glass and taste for free.

Friendly and helpful staff, great wine

by joelotz at Citysearch

There doesn't seem to be any recent reviews so I thought I'd throw my hat in.

This is a great place, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They specialize in affordable wine that you can drink everyday, not the stuffy old man, don't touch that bottle for 50yrs kinda wine.

They have free wine tastings every Thursday and always bring something new and tasty. I recommend you check them out and ask for a favorite pick.

Google the name for their website.

  • Pros: Service, staff picks, website, free tastings
  • Cons: Parking

Wonderful Wines and Service

I've always had great pleasure in shopping at Seattle Cellars. They have a great selection in wines and a very friendly staff. I ususaly buy inexpensive wine and sometimes spluge - they are experts at recommending wines in all price ranges. I've even bought fantastic sparkling wines for under $12! - LOVE THEM!

  • Pros: staff, variety of wines, location
  • Cons: none!

Ten? How?!?

by sjpatrick at Citysearch

Sorry, I just could not let this place wear a "10" in your poll. Service? Pushy. Employees can't seem to take "just browsing" for an answer, which wouldn't be as bad IF THEY KNEW ANYTHING. Selection? Next to Pete's, Esquin, Larry's, Town & Country Bainbridge - pitiful. Quality? Fair number of solid choices but basically nothing you won't find elsewhere, usually for less. Last but not least, the overt trendiness of the place is so aggressive as to be patronizing. Less flash and more substance would help A LOT>

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Bad wine knowledge, Trendiness, Prices

Excellent Service!

by mwtransplant at Citysearch

Walked into the shop one day for a bottle of inexpensive wine to take to a friends house for pizza. The man helping me turned out to be the owner, and the wine he suggested and I bought for aboutt $7 was delicious!

Seattle Cellars sells great wine at every price level, and the staff is SOOOO helpful.

They have wine tastings every Thursday night, too.

  • Pros: Knowledgable staff, Tastings, Good Prices
