What People Are Saying About Edgewater Hotel

In Short – Edgewater's owners deserve credit for jazzing up what was a fading property--recent remodels have created a wood-trimmed, rustic air. Inside, the mountain-lodge decor lobby is complete with a huge elk antler chandelier and stylized totem poles. With floor-to-ceiling windows and an unimpeded view of Elliott Bay, the Olympics serve as a magnificent backdrop. The rooms have pine furniture, fireplaces, flannel fabrics and on the west side, some of the best views in Seattle.
Editor's Tips
- Save Time:
- If you're planning a jaunt on a cruise ship, this is the most convenient hotel before or after; the cruise ship dock is next door.
- Know Before You Go:
- The Edgewater is downtown's best choice for joggers. Just a few blocks away is a fine waterfront path through Myrtle Edwards Park.
- The Extras:
- Thanks to a relaxed pet policy, your dog doesn't have to stay at home--assuming they're well-behaved.
- Look Good:
- Treat yourself to dinner, breakfast or weekend brunch at the seafood-oriented onsite hotel, Six Seven.
Beautiful and Stylish Hotel - Terrible place to stay

We have stayed at the Edgewater several times on our anniversary (we live in Seattle). The first time was immediately after our wedding. We love the hotel location and style, but we have had very bad experiences with excessive noise problems in our rooms both times. The first was an unfortunate proximity to several small dogs next door who started barking around 7am when their owners left and didn't stop for hours. We were exhausted after our wedding and were forced to finally call the concierge. The dogs were moved and we were able to sleep, but they were still clearly audible from way down the hall. Thinking it was a one-off issue, we booked again for last weekend, but were placed in a terrible junior suite - room 400, which is directly underneath the air handlers for the entire hotel. It was unacceptably loud in that room, think camping out next to a highway. We spent one sleepless night and then asked the concierge to move us, but after packing up and moving 10 rooms down we wound up next to barking dogs again. The staff is nice, and sympathetic, but the experience was not good. I understand the dogs aren't really the fault of the hotel, but clearly this is a common problem as it has been an issue 2 out of 2 times. Loud pets have no place in a hotel that advertises itself (and costs as much) as a luxury hotel. It felt like we were staying in a kennel. I was so frustrated I tried to find the Edgewater pet policy to see if it caters especially to dog owners. I'd also really recommend that the hotel not use room 400 for paying guests - it's insulting to pay so much for something so low quality.
AWESOME!

We were in Seattle the end of September for a Seahawks game. The hotel staff was absolutely wonderful...friendly and treated us like family. The rooms were small; however, very nicely decorated and extremely comfortable and clean. The whole experience there was great and I highly recommend staying there.....
Will not be staying here again

I stayed here for a week in October, 2009, on a business trip. Found the desk personnel absolutely clueless as to helping guests with anything. Wait service in the lounge was listless, inept, inattentive, rude, and more interested in chatting with one another at the bar than being waitstaff. Unnecessary canned music everywhere and when asked to turn it down was told no. Oral and written complaints to the manager received NO REPLY. If I had had other hotel options I would have left after the first night. No, I will not be returning. Not ever. P.S.: I really, really hate writing such a negative report. I wouldn't have if the manager had replied to any of my concerning while there or in my follow-up e-mails.
- Pros: Water views
- Cons: Service and management
terrible service

My friend and i were downtown and wanted a nice happy hour after shopping. We were told if we wanted to be on the water, go to the Edgewater. So we did. Big mistake. The service was so slow and our waitress forgot things like water and our second glass of wine. We wanted to order before six o'clock to take advantage of the happy hour and she just left us sitting there. It wasn't even busy. We would've stayed the view was so beautiful but not with that kind of service. They also promote that you can get $6 glasses of wine and $5 appetizers however you have to seem cheap and ask which ones! The happy hour menu doesn't tell you what is what and we ended up paying $11 for the wine and $18 for some of the appetizers! All in all we will not be going back.
- Pros: nice view
- Cons: the wait staff
Wonderful Hotel

Having just stayed at the Edgewater, I'm shocked to read so many bad reviews on this site. Our room was beautiful and quiet, the view was amazing and the bar was great. We never experienced any problems with the service. Our only complaint would be that the parking is quite expensive. Other than that, though, we loved the Edgewater and would go back in a heartbeat. We've stayed at the W before, which was very nice, but we prefer the Edgewater (especially with a water view room!
- Pros: Beautiful view, great bar
- Cons: expensive parking
