Waterfront museum goes full-speed ahead with modern exhibits of maritime history and Seattle's waterlogged culture..
The Experience
A virtual cruise to Alaska is just one of the high-tech, interactive exhibits at this maritime heritage museum. Four galleries are packed with activities exploring Seattle's marine environment, contemporary trade and fishing. You can paddle a kayak in Elliott Bay without ever getting wet and kids will love "docking" a rubber ball using a remote control tug boat, catching plastic fish on a kid-sized fishing boat and trying their hand at loading containers on to mini cargo ships.
You'll Want to Know
The center is never crowded, in large part due to its location at Pier 66, far away from the Pike Place Market, Seattle Aquarium and other tourist hot spots. The exhibits are all well-maintained and museum attendants circulate to answer any questions you may have.
