Editorial Review for Seattle Running Company – by Marika McElroy
The Scene
Staffed with fanatical and accomplished trail-runners, this is the place to buy gear for charging up mountains at full speed--or for just strolling around Greenlake. In addition to two walls of shoes for every pace and gait imaginable, the gem here is the stride analysis station. After a videotaped run on the treadmill, a staff member plays back customers' gaits in slow-mo, pinpoints the weaknesses and suggests the ideal shoe. Although most of the staff work out at a near-bionic level (they have to for those 100-mile trail runs), they aren't beyond advising weekend runners and casual walkers.
The Goods
Hard-to-find Montrail trail running shoes, Patagonia, Sugoi and Asics wear, Dansko clogs and an earful about your feet. This is no Big 5. Expect to pay full price for top-of-the-line sneakers.

Whether you're an elite runner, or new to the sport, Seattle Running Company is THE place for runners looking for top quality gear and advice that can't be beat! The store is owned and staffed by serious and accomplished runners who nevertheless respect and encourage runners, walkers and recreational strollers of even the most modest ability. This "for runners and walkers, by runners and walkers" approach permeates the store, giving it the feel of a "runners club", rather than a glitzy scene.
Pros: Excellent service, Unexcelled expertise, Highest quality gear
Cons: Capital hill parking
