Wow! Never again!. I was here for happy hour once before and tried a few appetizers. I thought the food was okay then, but now I think I was just drunk and didn't know any better. Last night I got take-out from Maharaja. Wow what a waste of $22.60! First off, the chicken curry was bland...absolutely tasteless. I got medium spicy curry and couldn't even tell. The basmati rice was so-so. As for my mango lassi...It had ice in it and tasted like it had gone bad. Yikes! Sort of sour with none of that thick sweetness that lassi should have. I promptly threw that out. What a real disappointment. Oh well. Not a bad place for happy hour drinks though.
Perfect place to take someone you hate. Its a sad day for Seattle when Maharaja's passes for Indian food. I read some of the other reviews and thought 'what the heck'. Man o man, what a disappointment. The lunch buffet is very underwhelming - just a handful of different dishes. The Saag was bland, Chicken Curry near-tasteless and then there was some kinda corn slop. I rate my Indian restraunts by how many glasses of water I need and with this place my glass remained full. In fact, there wasn't even any ice in my water! This was the saddest Indian food experience I've every had - and I lived in Idaho!!!
Great Indian, AND close to Downtown!. I absolutely LOVE Maharaja, for both their food, and their service! Their complete vegetarian dinner for two is the best. It comes with two entree choices, rice, naan, and a dessert for under thirty dollars, an excellent value. I recommend their Bhartha, it is EXCELLENT. I also love their vegetables Korma. One of my favorite restaurant in Seattle!!
i was reluctant. It was a raining cold day, but my gf demanded we try the restaurant. As we enter, the entire staff is in the dining room relaxing, but we were greeted promptly. We decided to choose the "meal for two" to go, and choose the Lamb curry and Aloo Gobi. I was very satisfied with the food and the portion size. They also deliver to the majority of metro Seattle, so thats definately a plus. Worth checking out.
Overpriced, mediocre food.. This place is way over priced, and way over-rated. Take a trip across the bridge and go to Savoy in Redmond if you want some real Indian food.
Best Indian Food Around!. The ambience may not be much but this is the BEST Indian food in town! IT has become a favorite dining spot among my circle of friends! Staff is courteous and they'll make the food HOT if that's what you like! HOT, as in sweating, beet-red, pitcher-of-water kind of hot! Like it mild? Try the Chicken Tikka.
Good stuff.. I have enjoyed every dish I have tried at this restaurant; I would highly recommend it if you are looking for tasty, affordable Indian fare.
khorma catastrophe. One of the worst restaraunts I have ever visted, hands down. The food was bland and overpriced, service was just, "alright" and rice was a side-order. I would never reccomend this place. Maharaja misses the mark, where other, less expensive Indian restaraunts are right on. I suspect the person who wrote a reccomendation is actually an employee.
bad food at maharaja!. We were dissapointed by the food. Aloo matter tasted very strange, taste and texture seemed like the dish had been made with canned tomato soup! The sweet lassi tasted like a very weak milkshake, not the usual great flavor and zip it should have. Overall, it was all below average, but edible. Aloo saag and nan were fine. Service was fine, the back of restaurant seemed worn and a bit smelly, the front was fine.
Best Indian and Delivery Too. This place is my favorite Indian food restaurant in Seattle. They not only have khorma on the menu, but they do a good job, usually. Add in the fact that they have free delivery to downtown/capitol hill/etc, and they can't be beat.
