In Short – On most nights, toddlers run underfoot as their parents enjoy a beer and locals warm the bar stools. This corner bar is lined with windows; the booths are best to quaff one of the 15 draft brews while watching passersby. Choices range from a mushroom burger to smoked salmon fettucine. Cheesy pizzas, sandwiches and fresh-cut fries round out the bar food, while pastas and land-and-sea specials are menu mainstays.

Editor's Tips

When to Go:
The bar closes at 11pm and the kitchen closes at 9:45pm. But you can still order soup, fries and desserts after 10pm.
Know Before You Go:
Later in the evening, after most of the kids have gone home to go night-night, the adults can light up. Smoking is allowed after 9pm.

Kiddy haven by day, neighborhood hangout by night

by Lisa Kennelly , Citysearch Contributor at Citysearch

This bar & grill has anchored the corner of Madrona's retail strip for years, and knows its clientele well. Here you'll find families with kids looking for a low-hassle night out, solo diners catching the hockey game and couples relaxing with an after-work drink. It's kid-friendly to a fault, with a play area and a liberal child-roaming policy, but after 8 you'll find a more grown-up atmosphere with late-night happy hour and weekly trivia. A rotating list of beers and wines is a highlight, though the food offers some pleasant surprises for a neighborhood joint, like the savory carnitas tacos and addictive onion rings.

  • Pros: Local vibe, strong lineup of beers on tap, solid food
  • Cons: Loud as a preschool recess until the kids go to bed

Never expected that.......

by crupp76 at Citysearch

There was paper, like a cheese slice with a big piece of wax paper attached, and yes, they didn't make me pay for the cheeseburger.... but that's it? No apology from the manager??

  • Pros: It's a great place to take kids
  • Cons: There was paper in my food

Great for Young Children

by pickleprune at Citysearch

I enjoy taking my kids here because there's a small play area with toys (near the fireplace so kids do need to be watched carefully) to keep the youngin's busy while the food is prepared. Friendly staff. Things get a bit loud on Friday evenings simply because the place draws a fairly large crowd. Great during the summer because the windows open wide providing lots of air flow. I'd recommend.

  • Pros: great food, friendly staff, fireplace
  • Cons: loud, a bit pricey

Great neighborhood pub

by milolutz at Citysearch

Great pub atmosphere, plus you can bring your kids. It's only open evenings, though, so it's not always convenient. Still, the staff is great and the food is fine. I'd recommend it.

  • Pros: bartender, staff, beer
  • Cons: hours, prices, noisy

This place is a neighborhood favorite- excellent location and decent food. What keeps us coming back, though, is the service and atmosphere. The waitstaff and the bartender are terrific Really friendly and welcoming-- and it shows given the diversity of the clientele. Our only complaints: the portions are small, the prices are high for what you get, and they really need to be open on Saturday & Sunday afternoons.

  • Pros: service, bartender, location
  • Cons: prices, small portions, no weekend pm's
